Comments in my stories are being moderated, and yet the ones making it through to posting are both harrassing and (often) contain off-site URLs. I'm not sure I understand the point of moderating them, so I would like to request that my comments not be moderated so I can just deal with them myself.

Thank you!

Moderation

So-called 'Moderation' doesn't do anything except filter out all the ladies who would delight you if you phone them. About a year or so ago they became so numerous that they were clogging up the comments.

Apparently it is beyond the ability of the moderators to use a spam filter which simply eliminates all comments with a phone number, so we have this 'moderation' which delays the posting and makes the comments far less useful than they used to be when they were posted in real time.

When comments were posted in real time, commenters formed a community and held conversations about the story. Now it can take sixteen hours or more from submitting a comment to its being posted on the psge.

So now authors simply have to delete comments themselves when there are nasty ones like "Kill yourself", although I always leave them up there to demonstrate how stupid some of the commenters are.

I doubt human eyes are paying much attention - it's the spam removal cycle that delays comment publication. If you're still getting urls, I'd report the comment so it gets attention - every little bit helps refine the filters. Other than that, you've still got to clean your own lawn.
