KillerMuffin's thread regarding fantasy artists got me to thinking. Many times while veiwing art I am so inspired.. the words flood my mind (I guess thats were the expression ' a picture is worth a thousand words' came from) some of my best poetry has come to me this way.

Does anything inspire you like this? If so, what? Music, drawings, paintings, photography,... what?

Here is an example of some inspiration I have recieved from Luis Royo's artwork:

The Huntress

Cloaked in a facade of darkness
She silently stalks the night
A huntress faced with denial
Always evading the light

Protected by the armor of her foes
She hunts for truth and right
A jeweled dagger at her side
Prey captured by her sight

She approaches with graceful stealth
A strong soul never knowing fright
Solid steel collides with rancid flesh
No chance of escaping death's might

Victorious once more
Yet finding no end to her plight
Lone journey into the millennium
A huntress by birth right

Hi Sweet Sharp Clawed Kitten, I did your impersonation and now I'm paying attention to your posting..........the Huntress excites me very much.......I could see her being one of my altered females for THE STALKING series.......

Savage Kitten-
You're very talented, that was an absolutely beautiful poem. To answer your question, I tend to be inspired by all of the above, depending on my mood and the source. Although, I think my greatest inspiration is simply people. I like to sit unnoticed, maybe on a street bench or the corner of a bar/club etc. and just watch people interact.

thank you! as a writer you well know that compliments like that are our greatest reward for the work we do *big smiles*

maybe its prideful to say.. but the poem.. my words.. excite me also... as does Luis Royo's work the effects are so visible it is unnerving at times

i love writing about the darkness.. never have tried it in a story ... yet... looking for this pic again i have found that some of his work from his new "Prohibited" books are now posted... so i am trembling with desire for more inspiration! *grinz*

I also like to people watch.. although I am not much inspred by them... I have been moved though by poetry and artwork alike that portrays people in their different walks of life.. i guess i am not receptive to inspiration from that cause i tend to view everything from my own lifes perceptive.. instead of being able to walk in the other persons shoes... i would love to read some of your stuff.. please email me if you like :)

I am often inspired by music, if not to do something inspired by the song itself, to continue or start something that I have been working on or wanting to. Some songs just get me in a productive mood.

More often, I'm inspired by people. I have a couple of friends who are professors. When I see the passion they have for what they do, and the fortitude to keep going even when they don't want to, thinking of them and how they would handle a situation often makes me refocus when I'm faced with a task I'm not too eager about.
