Insert a double space in story comments - how?

How can you force a new paragraph and double space when commenting on stories? I've double-tapped the the Enter key, but that's not it.

The commenters that do it use html -- either <br> or <p>.

It's imperfect, though. In some places, it inserts the line break. In others, it just produces the tag and goes on with one long paragraph.

I inserted two <br> sequences immediately at the end of what I wanted to be the first paragraph, then pressed Enter once, and typed the second paragraph. I could see the effect as soon as I hit the Preview Your Comment button.

I didn't test the <p> code.

Just went and looked at the feedback portal, and saw it. It shows up fine on the comment board, but compresses in the feedback portal.

Not a big deal, I suppose, since the feedback portal is so short-lived.

The <br> and </br> show up on the author's member page as well (on the blue 'moderate public comments' link). That's how I first figured out how to do it.

As you say, no big deal - but useful to know.
