Inkjet or laser?

Question for writers. . . When you get ready to print a hard copy which do you prefer?

I've always had an inkjet but lately I'm thinking about springing for a laser printer. The print quality for my manuscripts has always fluctuated with the inkjets and I'm ready to try something different.

Anybody swear by the laser? Or have folks found that inkjets work just as well to deliver a clean manuscript?

My rule of thumb:
Inkjet is for color, laser is for black and white.

It's not that you can't get a color laser printer or high quality inkjet. I just think that for the money, a color laser is too expensive. As it is, laser printers are way more expensive than inkjets. Also, there are top of the line inkjets out there. But for the money a B/W laser will deliver better results.

Just my opinion based primarily on my two printers.

A B/W inkjet is cheaper to buy, but more expensive to feed. To produce good quality copies, an inkjet really needs top of the line paper. A laser does not need the fancy paper.

Unless you make your living from color documents, I would not consider a color laser. Color lasers are very expensive and it is hard to justify the expense unless it is a key to your living.

JMHO.
