Indiana State Senator Travis Holdman filed a bill that would make it a felony offense to abort a fetus due to gender or fetal abnormalities.

SB 334

Prohibits a person from performing an abortion if the person knows that the pregnant woman is seeking the abortion because of: (1) the sex of the fetus; or (2) a diagnosis or potential diagnosis of the fetus having Down syndrome or any other disability. Makes it a Level 5 felony if a person knowingly or intentionally performs a sex selective abortion or an abortion conducted because of a diagnosis of Down syndrome or any other disability.

Political capitol trumps human decency.
(Investing in private prisons, will pay off. Poverty stricken sluts fill prison cells!)

The next big market! Corrupt judges fill cells with teens and children. Racist laws fill cells with minorities. Now, more women can be added to the slave labor pool!

Seems odd to focus on those two things, unless it's just to try and chip away at abortion in general. Which, considering he is a Republican, is likely.

I can't see it getting any traction.

This is a truly awful idea. Some people - not I - might object to an abortion on the basis of gender, but a condition such as Down's Syndrome should always be an acceotable reason.

If the bill passes, which is unlikely, and passes Constitutional muster, which is even less likely, it will just mean an increase in abortions performed in neighboring states and add to the woman or girl's expense.
