India-Pakistan War About to Kickoff

One of the saddest things about the change in national priorities in America since Trump was elected is the de-emphasis on cybersecurity.

The FBI was constructing an enormous "cybersecurity complex" in Huntsville, Alabama to deal with intrusions and cyber crime. This was a priority of the first Trump administration in 2019. It has gone painstakingly slowly through Congress, planning, bidding, and finally construction from 2022 to 2024. The campus was 90% complete and almost ready for occupancy when Trump took over.

New FBI director Kashyap Pramod Vinod "Kash" Patel has unilaterally cancelled the FBI's long-needed cybersecurity program, halted construction on the complex, and has opted to repurpose the campus as basically a MMA/UFC training dojo, so that FBI agents can become proficient at all forms of mixed martial arts. o_O

Patel and Trump seem to take crime "fighting" literally.
I don’t trust anything coming out of Biden’s FBI, no matter how much you slobber over it.

Your reading comprehension seems worse than normal this morning, which is quite an accomplishment.

The cybersecurity ramp up began under Trump in 2018 or so, was wholeheartedly embraced by a bipartisan Congress, which allocated lots of money to both the CIA and FBI to increase American security.

Then Musk's DOGE essentially laid off virtually every native Chinese speaker in the CIA (CIA agents have a very long four year "probationary period" and could be terminated at any time......which DOGE took advantage of, despite Project 2025's insistence that CIA personnel should not be touched).

Trump attempted to showcase his deal-making skillz back in the initial days of his second term, extending an olive branch to Putin by publicly proclaiming the US would no longer treat Russian security hack attempts as a priority. Kashyap Pramod Vinod "Kash" Patel was simply doin' his master's bidding.

Some things transcend politics, which you seem to have trouble grasping. Cybersecurity is one of them.

How's this for crayons yer still trying hard to convince people that your rice shortage hypothesis a certainty when it's just your opinion that's what gonna happen...
Well now you're just making things up.
What I'm actually saying is IF conflict between India and Pakistan seriously reduces exports from India and Pakistan, a rice shortage is inevitable.
"I've stockpiled rice just in case" makes it very clear that there is no ccertainly. And your response was that they don't supply much rice 🙄
Please don't chew the crayons.
😳

Yeah, cyber attacks are ANOTHER reason / cause for concern that only increases the need / motivation for individuals to take preemptive precautionary measures (stocking up on staples, etc) to avoid being left in the lurch.
In modern, cashless societies, if a bank goes down you could suddenly find yourself without access to funds.
And there's the occasional severe weather event too 🤷‍♀️ I've been cut off by minor floods and snow occasionally.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has raised the price of bread and other wheat products significantly in some places.
Fortunately, the uk produces almost all of our own wheat, so it's not increased quite as much here. But we don't grow any rice.

Yeah and I just replied that I doubt it'll effect pieces and you've been trying hard in your replies ever since our post history in this thread confirms it🙄

Yes, you said that a disruption to Indian rice production wouldn't impact the global rice market 🤣

You could always eat (rice)cake.

<-- is running for cover...

It won't because they so many different types of rice in each country...you seem to think it all interchangeable hense you stocked up...in any event until an actual rice shortage occurs you'll never be proven right yet you keep replying like it's a certainty which is pointless but hey it's clear you like trying anyways...

And you seem to think we're going to start eating millet with our curry if we can't get Indian/Pakistani basmati, rather than just switching to a long grain white rice from America Or southern Europe.

Or Australia. Lot of rice in Queensland. Thai rice is really great too. And Japanese rice is the best. IMHO of course.

Yeah that's what I said that it won't effect global prices much so until global prices get effected like you claim you're not gonna be right just accept it🙄

True. I love jasmine rice.

You told me that the biggest rice exporter in the world didn't export enough to effect prices.
You told me that if the country that produces mostly basmati reduces their exports, it will have no impact on the price of rice in a country where the most popular rice is basmati.
You have a complete inability to just concede that your initial statement was ignorant and incorrect, and have spent several pages trying to contort some rightness into it.

And you left tooth marks on my crayons.

No that's all just what yer telling yerself trying to justify your opinion about stocking up on rice you can seem to live with the fact that you'll have to wait till the next possible war to see if yer right or not so have fun waiting...

The UK could start growing rice on the floodplains that are currently filled with houses with flood damage.

You mean... the absolute worst case scenario is that I don't need to put rice on the shopping list for a while? 😱

I mean any of your case scenarios regarding rice shortages aren't happening...😱
