https://religionnews.com/2024/12/23...trumps-inauguration-reports-of-a-pay-to-pray/

President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team is reportedly planning an interfaith prayer service the day before his inauguration, where participants can worship alongside the businessman and his wife, Melania.

But those who want to join need to weigh the price of prayer: Tickets to the service will be awarded only to those who donate at least $100,000 to Trump’s inaugural ceremonies, or who raise $200,000.

According to the report, if a donor gives $1 million or raises $2 million, they’ll earn six tickets to the suite of inauguration events.

The only surprising thing here is that he hasn't sold tickets at a million bucks each for a Christmas Day concert at Mar a Stinko. Or maybe he has, it just isn't being reported.

People with that much money may see that as a better deal than a Kamala rally with Beyonce showing up to not play music.

Beyoncé was obviously saving herself for the big money, the NFL in Houston on Christmas Day. You couldn’t pay me to watch her at any time.

Republicans donate to their party.

Democrats expect the party to pay them.
Democrats go to their church, or pray at home if they feel like it.

MAGAt suckers purchase tickets paid for by other people's labors, to sit with an atheist pretending to be religious in the everlasting hope that he'll send them some tax cuts.

Celebrating the democratic election of the leader of the richest, most advanced, most successful, most powerful, most feared, most benevolent, most violent country in the history of the world with an unrestricted show of sinecures, plotocracy and patronage… is to be expected.

I would suggest that being brashly open about it is more honest and democratic than limiting, downplaying or being politely hush and “on the DL” about it the way the “ Democrats” tend to do things.

Just stay at one of his hotels. No need to worry about the donations to the inauguration. If I remember properly, Saudi Arabia used to buy up floors at the DC hotel for extended periods of time

It has become a defining feature of MAGA to have to explain the unusual and unlawful as totally acceptable and commonplace behavior which would illicit the spot on meme of this:

But I suggest that that’s not what’s happening with this particular member.
It’s apparent that what he’s doing is devouring his own shit.

There are no limits on Inaug Committee Donations, so nothing illegal is going on.

Trump’s just better at promoting himself than Biden, even though Biden has sucked the public teat his entire working life.

So, you’re just wrong.

But that’s no surprise.
Lol

Because he decided there are no limits.

It's never about legality.

Trump’s just better at promoting himself than Biden, even though Biden has lived off the public teat his entire working life.
"My guy is better than your guy at being unethical"

😎

So, you’re just wrong.

But that’s no surprise.
Lol
If you are nuanced about legalities, you're likely ignoring unacceptable or unethical behavior for the sake of your guy

The topic in this thread is Inauguration donations.

There are no limits on them.

They are shameless fundraisers to curry favor with an incoming Administration, always have been.

Gw bush raised 7.7 m in 2005
Obama 53.2 in 2009
Biden something like 65 in 2020
Trump projected to raise 150 this time

All perfectly legal.

Trump is just better at it.

You’re a sore loser, that’s all.

Lol

But there are.

Imposed by the incoming administration.

The differences are that this incoming administration has decided to skip that....and that's important....not legally but politically.

They are shameless fundraisers to curry favor with an incoming Administration, always have been.
And there are norms established over time as political statements.

Obama 53.2 in 2009
Biden something like 65 in 2020

All perfectly legal.
You're focused way too much on legality.

Trump is just better at it.

You’re a sore loser, that’s all.

Lol
I find issue with ethical issues with these donations. I think they should be completely eliminated. I've had that position for a while.

As I said....when you get into nuanced legality arguments - it's an excuse. Neither tribe wants their opposition to give elites monetary access to their candidate beyond any transparent view. But the correct position should be to eliminate dark money regardless of party.

I don't recall anybody claiming that it was unlawful to sell NFTs, or medallions with his face on, or trumpytrout toys, or trading cards depicting a fat slob as Superman, or tickets to pray alongside a grifting atheist.

If it were an offence to sell tickets to pray alongside grifting atheists, those superchurches would be closed down already.

The question is, is it ethical? Presidential?

There have been plenty of unlawful sales, such as fake money and copyright-infringing guitars that have sucked up cash from losers who then claim to not be able to afford groceries to load into the back of their lifted trucks emblazoned with the Mark Of The Beast.

Yes, President Biden has been employed by the taxpayer since his time serving in the military. Trump spent those years fooling people into believing he was a successful businessman. Simple folks are easily convinced. Some even claim that it was all to 'trigger the libs' when the grift is revealed.

Maybe you should start a Church of Ethical Behaviors, where you can teach the Right Ways…. For Free, of course.

Lol

MAGATs would picket the doors like it was a Women's Health Clinic. They don't want no stinkin' ethics.
