Inaccurate Favorite Counts and Editing

Hi, I wrote a story and got five separate notifications that my story had been favorited, but the favorite count for the story is only 1 now. Unless people regularly unfavorite it or a bunch of people accidentally hit the button, is there another explanation? It's been several days.

Also, I noticed an error in my story, is there a way to edit?

If someone adds your story to a reading list, Literotica tells you it was favorited.

I wish they'd stop doing that, but so far they keep on.

Be prepared to wait a long, long time for the edit to go through. They appear to be the lowest-priority operation Laurel and Manu perform. Waits of 4-6 weeks seem to be common.

You're best off submitting clean text. If you do find a typo after publishing, consider carefully whether it's important enough to pursue a correction for. Good luck to you.

If anyone is interested, I got very carried away with a face-fucking scene and had some physical impossibilities regarding line of sight as a result. It’s bugged me for years.

I've put a lot of edits through in the last several months. (I talked about why in a thread on revising.) By a lot I think it's roughly 25 stories (or at least distinct publications) totaling around a half million words. I currently have 6 in pending. The last of the revisions should be submitted the week after next.

I feel bad for Laurel for having done so, but the revisions are much better than the originals.

I think my average wait has been about six weeks, although I often get multiples done at teh same time.

And double check that the revision gets posted. One of mine did not. Laurel admitted to me there was an issue that that could happen (one of the very few responses I have ever gotten to a note to her). But it still isn't fixed. I resubmitted that edit a few days ago. It's the first half of a two part story, with some inconsistencies between the halves. Hopefully that one does not have to wait the full six weeks to appear this time.

Yeah... agree with the reading list vs favorites notifications. It is an oddity.

In my case I got a DM from someone who noticed a mistake that's been there since March '25.

In my case, the MMC got very handsy when he laid hands on her.

It appears that he has two left hands.

I've had six-week pendings for edits in the past, so this is long, but not quite epic, in my case.

That is updated in more or less real time. Absolutely everywhere else you see statistics is behind by varying degrees.

If there's a discrepancy, then you need to know that while someone favoriting your story is announced on your feed, removing that favorite is not. People still use the favorite system as a bookmark feature, even though there's an actual read later list on everyone's account for that express purpose. ( which doesn't alert the author like a favorite does ) So they may favorite it as a bookmark, and then remove it when they finish reading it.
