In today's porn fueled world ... is it possible to publish a story here and earn 1,000,000 reads?

But, do you get any fewer votes, favorites, or comments than you did back then? I actually hit 100k views and 1k votes in 24 hours on my first M/S. What's changed from what I've seen is not the activity on the story, but rather how many views are recorded. All the other numbers come in just as they did back then. I can still pull down around 1k votes in 24 hours, but only about half the views. It happened more or less overnight on two different occasions a couple of years apart, which each cut out about 25% of the old 2010-2011 views.

Smells like improved bot/spider filtering to me. Matches my observations closer than any other explanation.

I agree.

Good point about bots

But overall the point remains about readers being spread out.

Certain stories used to pull massive favorites on opening day. I remember seeing that on the Hubs and being really impressed. I think I recall that old author "scouries" getting like a hundred favorites in a day.

These days it's rare to see anything like that. Unless you make a "backseat" story which is still popular.
