In the midterms, what is the GOP going to run on?

The only midterm-related message I get from Pubs on this board is "Biden sux!" But what else are Pub candidates going to run on, apart from obstructing the Dem agenda, and maybe launching some silly and embarrassing effort to impeach Biden for noncrimes? What will they propose to do? What is their own agenda? The only thing of importance Congressional Pubs did on Trump's watch was a tax cut, and certainly there is no demand to speak of for any more of those. So, what else?

I'm afraid you'll find "Control the border!" is not an issue that's going to gain traction with swing voters.

Actually there is a very good case for running on the promise of another tax cut.

1. The bottom 50% of Federal income tax payers currrently only pay 3% of tax receipts.

2. So if a party (either party) promised say, to cut the bottom 25 million poorest taxpayers out of the system altogether, that would have widespread appeal. And combined with anticipated bracket creep in inflationary times, it would buy a lot of votes at very modest cost, especially if phased in over 3 years..

The problem is that neither party has the sense to do it.

Same thing Democrats usually run on.

We're not them. They're evil.

We'll give you stuff!

;) ;)

Other people's stuff. Rich people. The nectar of the oppressors.

The only difference is that the (R)s frame it as, "We'll give you your stuff back..."

That's not how it works.

First off, it is firmly established that the overwhelming majority of our press
leans heavily towards the Democrat Party and their policies
(as stated, not as acted upon) and as such
if the Republicans are dull enough
to announce tax cuts,

the morning headlines read: Republicans Advocate Tax Cuts for the Rich.
In general, the American Public rarely reads past the headlines
and certainly does not dive into the nuts and bolts...

Looks like the conservatives will congeal around "but...but...crack pipes" as their Outrage Of The Election Cycle..

Ending the vax push is the obvious answer. The deaths by vax may become numerous and obvious enough that they mention prosecution. The rest is mostly rebuilding the local economy, since that will be necessary as global supply chains break. Maybe they'll push local production of military gear. The usual ranters will go on about family values and taxes.

They had no platform in 2020, and did pretty well.

Lol ..yep, they run on the platform called "stupid". Those who get their stupid on better seem to do better.

As 45's chances have now seemed to evaporate....they have walked themselves into a dead end.

Stupid doesn't see it that why....that is good, cause they will be scratching their heads again when they wonder why nobody is voting for them.

Maybe the GOP can support universal basic income. Next logical step.

Yup.

Unfortunately they probably won't have enough of a spine to actually swing back and do some conservative shit.

Looks like the conservatives will congeal around "but...but...crack pipes" as their Outrage Of The Election Cycle..

Not a bad point to bring up.

Makes Demz look fucking retarded and "At least we aren't that." is going to go a LONG way this cycle. :)

They will run on "Let's Go Brandon!"

Or just cite the worms accomplishments starting with Afghanistan, border, Covid, inflation, energy, equity, etc. - pick one!

It is a combo of "2020 was rigged" and "Biden is the worst Prez ever"

Midterm elections are generally a referendum on the president and the party in power. Inflation, crime, energy, and border control are among the items on the ballot this fall that the GOP will win on.

McConnell has already said they're not going to be running on anything in particular.

So 2020 — "We're for whatever Fearless Leader is for" — all over again.

They will be running on hatred, lies, and deep prejudice.

No need. They will be welcomed by the American people like a returning victorious legion. Two years later Trump will return to DC atop a gelded and hobbled Democrat Mule to the hoots and cheers of the belabored populace. The DC workforce will still be at home bemoaning their last day of Zoom calls and face diapers.

There are hundreds of congressional races plus state and local elections. There will be lots of different campaign issues across the country. It’s shaping up to be a great year for the GOP. 🇺🇸✌️🇺🇸

Nobody who was not going to vote Pub anyway cares about border control. As for inflation, you can't have economic recovery without it. As for energy, whaddaya got?
