I wrote a couple of people who are on the list of writers for help in editing and going over some stories I had. Unfortunatly none have responded.

So I am asking is there anyone in particular that will help me out. My writing for the most part tends to draw people in but my spelling and grammer are another thing. Though I tend to spell most things right there are a few expections I know of myself since I do tend to make some of my letters backwords. Yes, I know my good ole problem but I try and work on that.

I also need help with layout of the stories has I tend to make them too long instead of breaking them up. I write about many things from Romance to light Bondage and recently wrote about Lesbian sex with a small part of fetish throwen in. Yes, I know it is not for everyone but hey if it gets people to reading why not.

So, does anyone know who can help me with this problem?

Oh, and one other question if I may.

How can I find out the votes on my stories?

I have always said that I will help with editing/proofreading - as long as one specifies what they are looking for. Again, I also stated this in the Editor's Forum - there are some stories that I am not interested in editing though (extreme, incest, etc).

Where are you writing when you write?

I know myself, I could be hard pressed to see any reason for NOT writing on a good Wordprocessor. In my case I use Word from MS Office XP.

It features a grammar and a spell checker.

Sure it won't actually make the stories "great" literature, but it will at least make it so you have next to no typos, and that your sentence structure wouldn't get an english teacher scowling much heheh.

Thanks to writing through a spellchecker I have never seen the need to worry about technical quality. I only require input on whether the material just plain sucks heheh.

I hope this gives you some help.

On the subject of reading your stories over to yourself. It is a good idea either: record yourself reading them outloud; or to get the freeware version of READPLEASE - (sorry I don't have the url).
Then play it back.

To pick out the problem of writing things backwards it may be best to use READPLEASE as this will read what you have written, and not what you think / meant to write.

Hmmm not sure if "listening" to erotica is such a good idea hehe:)

I think I will stick with 8th grade teacher in a box myself.

Somehow I don't want to listen to myself reading my sytories heheh.

That Readplease might be worth looking into though, I am intrigued.

Thanks Jon

I may have to look into that. It sounds good but I don't know if I could handle hearing myself read. LOL

But it is something to look into and thanks. I will see if I can find something like that for MAC's.

Assuming people might not see it, there is another thread which possesses an active link to ReadPlease (I found it myself).

The software allows you to hear your text as spoken by a male of a female voice. But it is not ours of course. And it is also just a tinny mechanical sounding approximation of a voice at that.

I do think it has merit though. I was able to see that some of what I had written, would "sound" better written differently.

I have only done two stories so far but I do have a method you might want to consider.

I use Netscape Composer (it came with my Netscape 4.79) it has a spell checker. After I have gotten a little way into the story I use Speakonia (a text reader) and have my computer read the story back to me to see if I like it. Then I go on to change parts or write more. I use the Speakonia often to see if the story is still sounding right. After all this I have a friend that goes over the story, but most times finds little.

If you do not have Netscape it is free as is Seakonia. I think that the Netscape Composer comes with all the Netscape Communicators above 4.7 I do not think that it comes with Netscape stand alone browsers.

Speakonia can be download from:

Some other person out there may know of a better program but I do not.

Have Fun
