It was a family thing. The cub and I had to go back East and help the daughter lay down a new basement floor. No, nothing dark and sinister, her basement has huge windows on two walls so it was just a process of outsmarting some IKEA fake wood planking . . . that took all of Sunday and Monday! Next time, we fly with a full toolkit . . .

Yes. I have that lovely laminate flooring in my house as well. I happen to love it, but it's absolutely frustrating to have to work without the proper tools. Table saw, jig saw, correct blades for said saws...

We managed with a jig saw and a cutoff saw. You're right, a tablesaw would have made the job so much easier and a chop saw wouldn't have hurt anything, either. And so we learn . . .

A good power miter saw will help most jobs!

That's what I call a chop saw, and you're dead right about it. But a table-saw to do the ripping would have sure helped, too.
