In/Out Board

I'm in. In a flickering, flutterbug sort of way, dividing my writerly time between here, LJ and FanFiction.net, but here.

Phew! Home, at last, to my own personal leaf pile. Did you know that Europe can get really cold? But we had a great time. Now I must stop eating for a few months . . .

Off to...

Blue water. Salt water. Deep water. Tidewater.

Where the porpoise and dolphin dance across the sea. Where the water is a deep translucent cobalt blue— indescribable to anyone who hasn't seen it firsthand— especially when contrasted with the pale yellow of Sargassum weed.

Enjoy the bounding main, Trysail. You lucky(sea)dog. :D

Thanks. Back on terra firma, I can say that neither old ocean nor porpoises disappointed. It's always good to go but it's also always good to get back. Our passage wasn't long enough or rough enough to make me swear off voyaging for the rest of my life ( as some have ). In the worst case, that vow lasted for at least a couple of months.

Try as I may, it is impossible to capture what it's like out there in words or images; it simply cannot be done.

Off to the land of loons that lullaby you to sleep. Mountains ( *LOL*, that description would greatly amuse many), cold fresh water and lake canoeing— the scene of some of the happiest days of my life.

And shore lunches of fried canned potatoes, canned peas and fresh northern pike. NOM!

In one week, I shall be leaving for Toronto for 2 1/2 months to be with my husband for our First Anniversary. Prayers on the 15th, or good thoughts would be appreciated. Lots of stress and it's affecting my body and immune system pretty bad.

*I just asked for prayer on a porn board. Am I going to hell for that?* /boggle

Stress just gives you bad vibes, as you're finding out. There's no percentage in it. Just relax, mellow out and enjoy yourself. :rose:

I'm away from this evening (Friday 9 September) until Sunday 18th September.

My wife is going to a Women's Conference this weekend and we have booked a cottage for a week. The cottage is in a rural location and doesn't have WiFi. The nearest village doesn't have broadband either - yet is less than 50 miles from London. How uncivilised!

At least it isn't as bad as the cottage we stayed in when the annual conference was in Yorkshire. There was no Wifi, no broadband in the village, and was in a dead spot for cell phones. Apart from the public call box, which was out of order, (no, not vandalised - it had been hit by a passing truck) the only way to use a mobile phone was to climb the hill out of the village and stand in the graveyard. The local parish council had even provided a shelter for those using mobile phones.

And, of course, it was in that village that my car developed a fault and I had to call the Automobile Association. I had to climb to the graveyard in the pouring rain. They offered to call me back when their mechanic was on the way. I told them that I wasn't standing in a graveyard for up to an hour waiting for their call. I went back to the cottage, out of phone contact, and sat down with a cup of coffee. The mechanic arrived within half-an-hour.

Back on the AH in a week. I'll miss you.

I'm leaving well before dawn Thursday for Wyoming. Jim and I are off to put by the winter's meat, to wit a bison cow and a mule deer buck apiece. According to what the outfitter has told us that should add up to around 230-250 lbs of packaged and frozen meat each. I've been industriously emptying the freezer in anticipation . . .

After all, a vegetable garden can only carry you so far.

And, I'm off to capture a one-armed bandit in AC this weekend. I'll have no problem storing cash in the freezer for the winter.:D

Going to Hell, Angel ?.
I very much doubt God would sanction that. I hope it all goes as well as you want it to.

Og's off again

I'm going away for a few days, Monday to Friday, on a short holiday.

I'll visit my older brother for an evening and the rest of the week we're touring around. What we do depends on the weather.

Back on Saturday 22nd.
