I may not be in the right section but...

I have one story already here, last February. It still retains a 4.72 :) So between my ideas and my (most patient) volunteer editor it has turned out to be a successful effort.

I have a new story that I need help with... I'm OK with grammar and spelling though. That's not what I need help with... My major problems are with POV, 1st,.2nd, 3rd person and presenting it as past or present... I keep floundering

Somebody help? :)

I am willing to edit your story. I have not done any editing yet, and I am still looking for my first story as a Volunteer Editor. Thanks!

Thanks crackerjack... I went to the editors list and found your profile. My story is (tentatively) titled "Submission in the Park". I have already sent a copy to another editor. I haven't heard back yet though.

Would it be a breach of etiquette to send it to another? I don't want to be rude. I appreciate the efforts made by this volunteer...
Can someone answer that? It's not in the guidelines

Image,

In my view there is no problem as long as both -- or all -- your editors know there are other eyes sharing your copy. The object should be to give stories in Literotica as much quality as possible. The only problem might come if three editors give you seventeen points of view, all wrong.

I agree. If I were editing someones story, I would not be offended if they had someone else edit the piece. When an article is written for the newspaper, it is edited by three different editors! But it is up to you, and it wouldnt be a bad idea to inform the other person, but there is nothing wrong with it.

I hope to be reading your story soon..

David

Curious

HawaiiBill and Crackerjack11982 I am curious:

Would you send your story to two or more editors in parallel, or serially?

What would you do if two editors said you needed to change something, but in mutually exclusive directions?

Snooper,
Either way, I would not be offended. If the editors offered changes or suggestions in different directions, I would go with the one that was more exciting and run with it. That is one of the upsides of having more than one opinion, either way, it is going to make your story better!!

Good luck!

Hi Crackerjack! So do you still want to help? I thought I emailed you via the proper links here. I can't send you the story without your response.

At this point I'm at a loss... HawaiiBill had some interesting things to point out and was totally correct...

Fuck.. can't I just have a quickie? OK, no one gets that (except maybe Bill :)) but I either shelf it for now or just put it out there as an expression of lust and fantasy.

Hmmmm. but I've done that a million times on the GB... It's just not as fullfilling

Writing is -- and SHOULD BE -- hard work.

I know, Literotica is supposed to be fun. And it is. The writing of a story with any quality, however, is fun only if you enjoy hard work.

Sorry about that. Every writer knows it and most of them, at some place in their work, have said something about it.

Yes, you can just dash off that great idea you had and get somebody to post it -- probably even on Literotica. In my view, we have a few too many of those online. When I volunteered to be an editor it was with the hope of improving the quality of writing available. Needless to say, that is more modest in reality than it may read in the sentence because I'll probably get to edit 20 or 30 stories and that's small potatoes in the thousands of tales that get sent in. But I'm going to do the best job I can on those few stories to help those writers do the best job possible.

Any writers who don't agree with that theory, that they owe it to their readers to really care about what they send up, are welcome to their view. No argument here. But it might be a good idea to take my words to heart and if you merely want to dash something off to get your quickies satisfied, find another editor. I'm too old to waste time just fixing grammar and patching spelling. Our readers deserve more.

And erotica is too important a subject to leave to careless communication.

Bill I agree with you totally... I have read far too many stories here to know what torture a poorly written story can be to read, if indeed one can get through it at all.

Your points were taken well, truly they were... I knew that my story was lacking in a lot of areas. I just haven't been able to gather the inspiration to develop a further character or story line...

I'm not looking for an easy out. Like I said in my above post, and if you go to the GB and see some of the "quickies" I've thrown out there, you would see that that's not what I'm looking for here. I wanted this to be a story, a good one. The quickies are not fullfilling in the least :)

Anyway, I do appreciate your efforts and if I feel a bit more inspired I may actually come up with who this guy is and what he wants...

The integrity of a story is of the utmost importance and the readers are owed that to be sure.

Until the creative juices start flowing again, I remain...
Sincerely,

Thanks everyone else too. Maybe I'll submit it afterall... but I promise not to until I'm satisfied.
