In Commemoration Of Int'l Woman's Day

My eldest aunt Emily, born 1897, was a suffragist (suffragettes believed in civil disobedience, suffragists in getting the vote by legal means) and out-earned her brothers all her life. She started work in 1914 as a Lady Typewriter, then a high-tech position.

At the age of 90 she was still running a club for disaffected Black teenagers in South London accepting referrals from the Police and Probation service.

She was a Freeman of the City of London, and a Company Secretary (= Chief administrator on the company's board).

She was a formidable lady despite her height of 4 feet 10.

Your aunt sounds like a real pip!

I wonder if she knew my Aunt Shelly? ETA: Auntie Shell ended up about 3'6", IIRC.

Also, Sandra Fluke is my sister. The Limbaugh lawsuit is going to set the family for life!

My gangy was the first and only woman for years to own a construction company in our local area which she started back in the 60's and went on to be a lobbyist working in the state capital. She put up with tons of shit from the men at work...not because she had a vagina...because she was a manipulative bitch. That's right...a manipulative, cut throat, conniving bitch of a business woman who got rich beating the boy's at their own game and I couldn't be more proud.

Gangy......
