I only want people to respond if they are a full time student and at a 4 year college.

How much total did you spend on all your textbooks? Just textbooks/lab manuals no other supplys.

I have one class this semester and there were three required books that cost a total of $115. There were two additional "suggested" books that were $60. I bought the required ones only.

I'm finishing my master's degree this semester.

Ouch. Yeah i probably should have put a stipulation in for grad students, since they don't normaly take many hours but still have very expensive books.

when all was said and done, $387 and change. i spent hours looking for cheap books, i bought all but one used, got free shipping on my net orders, etc.

:( i'm not a happy lexie. i guess i won't be going out this semester. ever.

Lexie what is your major again?? Like premed right?

I only got one of my books used and it was a cheap one. I got robbed i am taking all Poli Sci classes(National Security/International relations classes). The rules have pretty much been rewritten over the past few months, so I have all brand new editions.

my introductory neurobiology and behavior class required 5 books. my spanish class required almost $100 in materials. i'm also taking bio, psych and a creative writing course.

right now i have a double major in biology and psychology. premed isn't a major at cornell. you can't really get a degree in "pre med" or "pre law."

Yeah i know but they a lot of times will have concentrations in that. My department has a pre law concentration and a lot of people in it say they are doing pre law even though there major is Poli Sci.

One of me exgf's roomates goes to cornell.

Hey guys, I'm just your average college kid and all, but listen to this: www.half.com

eBay hosts this site where you can search by ISBN for your college textbooks (or any books). I bought a 4" thick Novell CNE book that's required for a total of $12.??

Anyway, on the less optomistic side, they didn't have one book that I wanted and my friend at Barnes and Nobles got me another book with their discount. All in all, I'm probably paying less than $100, but my girlfriend is taking a class different than I and I added her book to figure less than $150.

The school I go to is the largest in the nation by the number of students. It has one (1) bookstore. (Apparently, it used to have two, but one ran the other out of buisness).

I used the local bookstore's website and totaled everything up. I then went to textbooks.com, which pushed me to BN.com's textbook section.

With BN I saved $100 on used books. The only thing is I have to wait for them to get in (I've already got one, so I'm guessing the rest are at my dorm waiting for me)

I spent about $456.

Why is it that I am the only college student in the country who cannot find their books used?

$230.05 for 17 credit hours. One hour has no text. Only three real books. The rest are cheesy pseudo-books written by the professor teaching the course.

As a grad student, I don't officially qualify for the poll, but I have yet to spend less than $500 on books in any given semester. This has been my cheapest to date, as I only forked over $550, but last semester I spent over $700. This included used books. Blech.

I guess I don't qualify, either, since I'm in a one-year post diploma program, but I thought I would gloat a little bit. The coordinator of our program is very sympathetic to student budgets. He arranged it so that we could use the same text books both semesters, with the exception of one new book that cost $18. I could kiss him! ;)

This is grad school but this semester was $300, but last semester was OVER $700...I'll never make enough money to pay back the loans...:(
