Hey y'all,

I have been looking around here the past few weeks and I've noticed lots of people have issues with the Volunteer Editor program. Therefore I wanted to create a thread to help catch these issues. That way the admins and editors can read them all in one place and hopefully work on them. Sound good? Ok.

First suggestions-

Allow one to search the Volunteer Editor list by name. That way when an editor expresses interest in your story, it's easier to find their VE profile and make sure they're a good fit for you.

Link the editor's VE profile (if applicable) to their Lit member profile. Same reason as above.

There have been plenty of suggestions to L&M in the past on how to improve the volunteer editor program, and there are plenty of threads about this topic buried in this forum. They do not seem interested in these suggestions and are likely concentrating on other aspects of the site.

I know your intentions are good, but sadly, making this thread is quite pointless. That's part of the reason why the "Active Editors" threads were started, because this forum is all there really is to work with in terms of fixing anything to do with editing on this site.

What Jen said.

Plenty of discussion have been made about the problems with the Editors' List. Your idea stems from good intention, Acht, but unfortunately it won't amount to anything until L&M decide to do something about it.

If there's one thing I have, it's good intentions. [sigh] Oh well, thanks for your responses, Jen and Lady C.

Having said that, that doesn't mean you can't get things done "unofficially", does it? :)

No, you're right, and that's why some active editors have taken upon themselves to create the "Active Editor - X Month" that are in the stickies. The free editors go there and say they're free and what/how many/what kind of help they can offer.

I know it's not much, but we're trying to maintain some order and keep the help flowing.

The need and the demand rarely meet. Sometimes we have too many editors (my perception), sometimes too few.

I do what I can, but I work for a living and have little time for this. I try not to bite off too much while working in some time to also write. I have maybe an hour, possibly two, to devote to editing or writing a day, putting aside all personal projects.

God bless those that are retired and can take on more of the load, because my small plate fills quickly.

 What about those of us not retired that take on a big load of it?

No Way!

Okay, I'll take that. As long as you aren't implying I'm old or anything. ;)

I feel old. Older than my 48 years. Knees make loud noises when I climb stairs. Have to wash dishes in shifts since the slight bending motions cripple my lower back. The same for mowing the yard, why THE FUCK is the push-bar SO LOW?

I have a recurring dream where a doc tells me I'm terminal and I react favorably. It seems like I'm just going through the motions waiting for death to claim me.

Damn, my 86 y/o mother is more active than I am!

Well, I have people to do the yard. The dishwasher saves on the back. The knees I can relate to. I can't even say you're older than I am, darn it. :(

And I'm younger than both of you and my whole body complains when I do anything but sit.:( Good thing my mind is not as fucked up as my body or I'd be ready to meet the bodybag.

As possibly the youngest person on this thread, I volunteer to ease all your burdens with my skills at massage. :)

Thanks, but...

If only that was the answer.

I have considered going to a massage parlour for a "genuine" massage, never had one before. The only one I know of has been "suspected" of "more", lol. It's Asian in a "questionable" area so I haven't done that. Certainly there are places "up and up" but I have yet to find them. Then again haven't looked too hard.

Mistress, and any others reading, Enbrel is a wonderful thing! I had terrible, crippling knee problems, which I lived with, but the psoriasis I could not. Started self-injectable shots twice a week, psoriasis went away, and a little later so did my knee problems!

Enbrel has since been discovered to be useful for other things as well, and has so few side effects pregnant women can take it ( no, not a back-handed way of saying I'm pregnant, which would be impossible given the lack of a uterus and the added bonus of having a penis).

Not a drug rep, not making a penny telling you this, but I'd seriously consider asking your doctor. It's been a magic drug for me with wonderful results. And no, not an investor either. Can barely buy enough gas to get to work so I can pay the bills.
