awareness of underchievment.

Are you a looser?

Are you a looser in your eyes?

Do you compare your age with those famous who have died at that same age? Do you compare your accomplishments to those/

Elvis. Kennedy. Lennon. All dead early in life. All accomplished.

Me? Right now, I'm older than all of them - related to when they died.

I haven't done much. Not very famous. Not at all infamous.

But I don't consider myself a looser.

How about you?

I don't consider myself a looser.
I don't even consider myself a loser.
Exactly what are "important" accomplishments?
Subjective or objective?

Exactly! It's all in ones own mind.

Like me. Even though I never spell check, never even hit "preview post" - and therefore would never catch such (I actually prefer "loozer") - and don't give one flying twit.......

I know I'm fucking great! Better than most! Top .5 percentile!

And...... that only matters - to me.

there are times

when I think that I have not done much with my life. But when i really stop and think....I realize that I've raised 2 great sons and neither one has been in trouble (Much).

I've been a husband for 25 years to the same woman and I work. Like most others I think.....I sometimes wonder if I could have been more. But my life isn't over yet, maybe I will be more.

I am not a loser in my mind....but to others who knows. Guess I don't care either.

If you are your own gage for achievement that doesn't necessarily mean you are on top all the time-unless you decide you are the best, but what does that mean? The thing is, no matter what we say, we are programmed with these standards, whether we choose to buy into them or not. Not buying into them is even a reaction to them, therefore you've bought in. I don't think anyone is pure and immune to societal standards, much as we may try. :(

I'm past the need for validation and approval. I measure myself by my own measuring stick. I ain't half bad! :)

I play societies game purely for societies sake.

In this I am allowed to survive - by them - society.

But that does not mean I hold their values dear, believe in them or think they have any merit what so ever.

Some do - some don't.

As long as "I know" what is of value, what is right, what is not and what is indefinable - then - this is what maintains my stability. If ever I "went over to their side" completely - and valued societies rules - then you see - I would be driven insane.

For that is their purpose.

I am a society of one. I am a rock, I am an island. And I like it that way. Buying into society and all its twisted values is for fools.

Agreed. I guess I'm trying to make the point that it's a process to get where you are; we don't just start out that way. It'd be nice if we did, but it takes a helluva lotta of thinking. Thinking is good. I think.
