Trump impeachment: We’re drawing near the endgame — and, man, is it gonna get ugly

Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., will gavel his committee’s first hearings on Wednesday morning. Members plan to first hear from various experts about the impeachment process itself and then begin the process of evaluating the evidence. That certainly means the Intelligence Committee report, and possibly more information from the Mueller report and other committees engaged in oversight. If they determine the evidence meets the constitutional criteria they will draw up articles of impeachment and put them to the House for a vote.

But that’s going to be tough. This committee is one of the most rancorous in the House and it has twice as many members as the Intelligence Committee. Many of them are showboating egomaniacs on a good day. Both Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, who were highly combative during the Intelligence Committee hearings, also sit on Judiciary, so we can expect more of their red-meat performances. And we can be sure that Trump’s most loyal guard dog, Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, along with borderline crackpot Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas, will be looking for ways to upend the proceedings.

With Jordan, Gohmert, Gaetz, and Ratcliffe and additional derpists Judiciary hearings should be spectacular exhibitions of Derpitude!

The House Intelligence Committee has released its preliminary report on Donald Trump's impeachment-worthy crimes in advance of tomorrow's first hearing in the House Judiciary Committee. Take five minutes and read all 300 pages of it!

Fox News analyst Andrew Napolitano struck out at President Donald Trump’s decision to not send lawyers to an upcoming impeachment hearing, calling the move “very unwise.”

“I am curious what you make of the fact that the president might want to skip out on this Judiciary Committee opening hearing and maybe others to follow, because it is essentially a Kangaroo court or it’s not fair,” Neil Cavuto said on Your World Monday.

Witness Pamela Karlan to Congress: ‘If you don’t impeach… you are saying it’s fine to do this again’

Stanford Law School Professor Pamela Karlan warned Congress on Wednesday that future presidents would abuse their power if President Donald Trump is allowed to get away with bribery and other abuses of power.

At a House impeachment hearing, Karlan was asked about impeachable conduct.

Yes, this "beware if you don't impeach" message is the obvious one to the Republicans in the Senate. Giving Trump a pass on this just gives him license to continue doing it and, beyond that, gives the same license for all future presidents to be kings and for Congress to be neutered. How much longer do Republican senators think the White House will be Republican considering how badly they're screwing up now?

Time to do a deal that everyone but Trump can live with--vote to dump Trump in the Senate in exchange for not going after Pence as long as he pledges just to fill out the term and not run again--and not to pardon Trump or any of his minions.
