Has anybody had an experience with this? Am I crazy to think this is the most excruciating pain they've ever experienced?

Mine was pretty deeply embedded....then I developed DRY SOCKET....oh FUCK, that hurts!

I could not eat...even on the other side of my mouth. I was taking pain-killers on an empty stomach and then developed serious cramps and intestinal bleeding.

Criminy, everything that could go wrong; did. The extraction was on the 31st of August and I'm still in horrible pain.

I tried the clove oil at first and the Benzocaine...but when my entire lower GI went south; even the smell of these makes me ill.

I'm miserable. How long has this lasted for other's in this situation? Thanks in advance for advice!

I had it, it sucked. Just put that clove oil on gauze and stuff it in that fucker. Tough it out for 24hrs and you'll be golden.

I have never had a dry socket, but I have had a few tooth extractions and the warnings I received ABOUT a dry socket were enough to put the fear of God in me. They sounded exactly like what you are experiencing.

I am so sorry for you. Kind thoughts and :rose::rose::rose::rose::rose: coming your way. That's all I've got. :(:(

Hope you feel better soon!

I didn't have dry socket but had four impacted wisdom teeth. The dentist did one side at a time. I ended up with black eyes on the side where the extraction was done. The black eyes lasted longer than the pain did. I suspect the black eyes were the result of the dentist putting his foot on my face to get leverage to pull them out.

It took me about a week after when it really hurt. Did you get any pain killers? Those helped me a lot.

Thanks Darb! But, I just now realized I forgot to tell another important thing.

A major nerve was damaged. I have horrible pain from my right ear down the entire bottom row of teeth to my chin.

Also, I cannot feel anything along the bottom of my face to the middle of my chin. Ugh, I can't believe I even left that out of my original post.

This damaged nerve, I am sure, is what is causing all this pain.

Darb, you gave excellent advice! I have been all over the net and read this is the best thing.

However, as I mentioned, I'm also dealing with a damaged nerve. It hurts so bad.

Don't mean to be a whiner here....but, ooooooooooooooh, it hurts! :(

I have dentures. lol

I dont do dentists anymore....whew.

Best decision I made too.

Then you should know what a dry socket is. And even if you didn't you should have been able to comprehend the OP.
You're not helping your case.

Colonel Hogan, you are so very sweet. Sometimes just a little sympathy from a good man is all one needs.

Internet hugs count. :) Thanks.

I only skim posts. It's part of my charm and M.O. :D

I still don't know what a dry socket is.

Go have the fucker pulled.

FFS.

Sweety, that's what an "extraction" is. I had it PULLED. Not, pulled, but "Impacted" means it never grew out. It's still under the gums.

Mine was growing sideways and was imbedded in the jawbone. OMG, I cannot tell you how traumatic that was.

They have to slice down into your mouth/gum and CUT IT OUT. owie. :(

Thanks for popping into the thread with your 2 cents anyway, doll!

Christobal, you were lucky to have a Dentist that cared enough to do them one side at a time.

I am still guffawing, however, at your depiction of how your Dentist landed his; (your) wisdom teeth.

Does he have them hanging in his trophy room? :D

Thanks for the laugh.

I had the same experience. It took me forever to get up the nerve to have the teeth finally yanked. I assumed it would hurt like hell anyway, so I was determined to avoid even more pain if at all possible. (I was lucky in that the pain was already pretty manageable by the second day after the surgery.)

This is probably correct, because I've never heard of dry socket still being an issue four weeks after a tooth extraction. Arte developed it after her wisdoms were pulled.

I'd suggest getting advice from your surgeon, but it sounds like he/she is part of the problem here?

Only Betty1 can offer up the stupid like this. He's really a lot like Drumpf- just let him use his own words.

I'm cringing in pain just reading this! I hate dentists!

I hope you find some relief soon!

Thanks WE! A day or two after the oral surgeon cut out the tooth, he went on vacation. It was about day 4 when the dry socket situation reared it's ugly head.

I was ping-ponging between my regular dentist and the oral surgeon's associate.

It just seemed that it was too easy for them all to pass me back and forth.

My original oral surgeon is back now. I'll get back to see him this next week.

Thank you all for the well wishes~ greatly appreciated :kiss::kiss:
