Impact of Porn on Young People

Hmm... the topic is raised of why and in what ways "pornstar" sex differs from the norm. The thread belongs more in AH where the eternally anally-introspective can wallow in it to their hearts' delight.

I myself have always been more interested in plain Janes and Joes. I see nothing in the porn industry's bimboes-and-hunks obsession which ever of itself leads to a convincing story.... quite the opposite, in fact... but maybe that's just me.

No...

I like the girl-next-door look myself.

Choreographed everyday porn video sex is pretty predictive and boring.

A lot of it for me is attitude. Open-minded and fun-loving, that is fun; creative sex. The best way to wring this out of a story is to have everyday people having sex in VERY unique settings.

Two people with a mom and dad bod, having missionary sex in a bedroom at their house is boring. But have the same people having sex on the top of the boat as it goes under the waterfalls at Niagra Falls, and it changes EVERYTHING!

I would like to see a mature story where the older person teaches the younger person, who has watched a lot of porn how to have real life sex instead of pornstar sex.
Sounds like a lot of the sexting I did a few years back :)

Not really, you're far from alone. Lit. writers and readers divide IMHO into two camps: those who want almost graphic-equivalent bimbo-hunk sex displayed in text form, with little or no concern for a realistic context, and those who actually want a believable story. My take on it is that the second mentioned is in the minority - but there are still enough of us to give you a resounding "hear, hear"!

I like the term: Plausible.

A story of mine might have twists that make the situation unique, so it holds interests to a reader, but it couldddddd possibly happen.

A case in point, I wrote a story about a intern researcher for big pharma who could not make ends meet and had to be a stripper at a local club. Blackmailed by her boss into giving him blowjobs to stay mum about her supplemental employment when he came in and saw her dancing, she soon puts two and two together that the protons in sperm could be an anti-inflammatory. From that she makes a medical break-through. The story ends with her saying, "again" as she was offered a promotion, but refuses it, wanting to continue to research stuff herself without having to be a boss, and now blackmails her boss as he tastes her to yet another orgasm lest she have him fired.

Singled out, everything in that story is possible. An intern stripping as a side hustle to make enough money. Being seen by her boss stripping. Being blackmailed. Even sperm having protons in it, and those being anti-inflammatory in nature, is all true. It's just in totality that the story becomes questionable. So, it gets relegated to simply being Plausible as a story.

Have you ever been there? They are pretty significant, and must say, brave for the souls that dared to go over them in a barrel. Most did not survive, and why even today it is one of the hottest spots in the USA to commit suicide.

For reference the Hoover Dam has the highest dubious honor, and just edges out the Golen Gate Bridge as a place for souls to end it all.

Funny story about the Hoover Dam. When I was there, in a bid to get a picture of the downriver vista I walked up to the edge. I am not sure what I expected. Perhaps a drop, and then a lower level twenty feet down or so? Nope, it was a sheer 700 foot drop! I am NOT afraid of height, I work at height every day, but I am used to modern handrails with two rails to 42 inches high with toe boards, not a concrete curb that went only as high as my knees. It literally was a straight plunge down to 700 feet below and not much between me and the toe of the dam!

Plausible, believable, credible... the exact word is not the issue. What matters is a desire on the part of a writer to engage the reader's belief in the quasi-reality of the plot. Leave that out and you alienate any reader with a half a brain.

That is valid...

I know for me it was from the way my writing career started. Wayyyyyyy too many years ago, before the internet existed en masse, porn was by the printed word and I wrote for Penthouse Forum. They were supposed to be of real people, with real sex stories, but when the letters got thin or uninteresting, I would write erotic stories for them to kind of bolster the pages so to speak. The thing was, they were supposed to be true stories, so my erotic stores HAD to be believable. When porn went from print to online, I wrote for another now extinct website, but it too had to be plausible. So for me that has just followed through with all my writing.

Today, fantasy novels are all the rage because of so many people wanting to escape reality of life as we become inundated with depressing news and dire consequences of EVERYTHING. This saddens me, as my writing style is more realistic and thus not all that popular. But it's my style, so I keep writing my short stories and novels nonetheless.

Just reading that triggers my vertigo.

Just reading that triggers my vertigo.
I can see why.

I work at height every day, and by height, I mean hundreds of feet up.

At an old job I no longer work at, we found this superball. That is a pure rubber ball that is about the size of a baseball. The guys said it would be fun to chuck it off the top of the powerhouse roof. I said, "nay, that is only 90 feet up. Let's throw it off the top of the stack."

It was a 220 foot climb to the top. No harness, and an odd arrangement to go from the ladder to the catwalk at the top. Anyway, I threw that ball out, it hit the pavement and bounced... and we are pretty sure at 115 miles per hour at reaching its terminal velocity... it was thus sent into space. We never saw where it landed.

A long climb, but well worth it!

We can all sympathise with the feeling that all the news these days is unrelentingly bad. Yes, people probably do need escapist stuff... but, as Steelpoint said, this can get to be thin gruel very quickly for folk who actually think.

You keep writing... and keep to the realism thing, for God's sake. It's no feather in any writer's cap to have a dull-eyed readership of wankers, something the 'likes and ratings' obsessed tend to forget all too easily.

I think fantasy novels have been "the rage" for quite a while. They seem to reflect the horrors of the times, no matter what generation they're written in.

Today's fantasy seems to have darker elements, bleaker worlds, and greater existential dread than, say, the '90s and '00s fantasy did. But go back to the Cold War era or the (early 20th century) interwar period, and fantasy didn't shy away from themes and consequences which were present in people's real lives.

Those themes and consequences might have been veiled, but I don't know if I'd regard the stories as an "escape" except in the sense that they were known to be "just stories" and generally had good-guys outcomes. Reading them was plunging oneself into grimness and dire straits.

Thanks for your kind and supportive words!

About five years ago I kind of streamlined my life, hyper-focusing on two areas. The first was identifying things I could change and had influence over. So for instance, I stopped watching the news, television in general, or listening to the radio and that sort of thing. My wife and I get grief from both sides, saying we are "dumb for not staying informed", but since neither one of us are on depression or anxiety pills... unlike 90% of America, so I would say we are doing just fine being uninformed.

The second was focusing energy on things that had lasting importance. At work, every week I strive to make the place just a little better than it was before. At home, I am making this old house look and function better by historically being accurate to the house. But I also think that writing plays a huge role in lasting importance. Long after I am dead, I have ten novels that will be availed for the world to read... or thirty-two stories on Literotica for people to read. It matters little if the stories are memoirs, fantasy novels, or erotica; the literary word has lasting significance.

For me, the second one plays into the first because if I am driving to work, and not listening to music or listening the news, than without those distractions I am thinking about my latest story. Or how I am going to make things better at work. Or improve our home. I am thereby focusing my life on changing and improving things that I actually can change, and making some meaningful contributions that can be passed down to future generations.

If all the world adopted your attitude, it would be a far better place generally. Specifically though, some people can take your 'things I can change' philosophy in a bad direction without thinking of possible consequences. People like Putin, Hamas and the current Israeli leadership do things blindly and heedless of creating a future full of hatred - and they do this precisely because they 'can' and see what they do as an 'improvement'.

Their actions, yes assuredly, have 'meanings' for future generations... meanings that these generations won't forget.

Exploitation is an inherent human-thing, and thus extends to any philosophical concept.

The precursors to Putin learned this back in 1982 by Samantha Smith, who.... incidentally used the written word... and brokered peace between the United States and the USSR, and still has lasting impact to this day.

If ANY writer needs encouragement, a case study on her letter verifies what I have said. Despite being inexperienced in writing, using grammar that was terrible, but yet asking a poignant question, she got results. All because she took action. She did what she could which was; write a letter and send it halfway across the world.

Dear Mr. Andropov,

My name is Samantha Smith. I am 10 years old. Congratulations on your new job. I have been worrying about Russia and the United States getting into nuclear war. Are you going to vote to have a war or not? If you aren't please tell me how you are going to help to not have a war. This question you do not have to answer, but I would like it if you would. Why do you want to conquer the world or at least our country? God made the world for us to share and take care of. Not to fight over or have one group of people own it all. Please lets do what he wanted and have everybody be happy too.

Samantha Smith

The literary word has so much potential. It matters little if a person writes and makes a peaceful change between two countries, or writes a story where some people get turned on and masturbate to the reading of it. It has got people to do act... to do something.

Again, focus on what you can change, and use the written word as a means to that end. Yes, the world would be a much better place f the world did that, and Samatha Smith proved the concept.

Wait… there’s anti-inflammatory properties found in sperm borne proteins?

Theres a sequel the needs to be written, set in the research lab where the concept is getting ready for clinical trials. Then the FDA review committee arrives to inspect the facility.

That might have something do with young guys who spend to many hours Watching Porn
and believing the narrative pushed by the industry. every woman is a Lesbian.every woman loves being treated
like a shit and their all time fav all white woman just love to fuck black guys.and then wonder when they try this as home
they end up with a knee to the balls.that's enough to give anyone erectile dysfunction.
