I just had my last class tonight. No more grad school- I'm finished! It's about time.

Now I just have to wait for that little piece of paper that says I have my Masters Degree. That will probably be 4 or 5 months down the road.... they take forever.

Woooooooohooooooooooooo

Congratulations, minxie!

Can I throw my arms around you and give you a big squeeze!

:)

Thanks everyone, and yes, it feels fucking wonderful!

I think I'm going to drink a glass or two of wine to celebrate, even though I'm not supposed to on this diet I'm on.

What's the degree in?
Thanks- it's in Special Education with a concentration in Early Childhood.

Trish, I'm drinking your glass right now.

Congrats Darlin'!!!!! I knew you could do it!!!!

(((lilminx))):::Grope::: Gotcha! :p

Congratulations!!!!!!!

Put in a call to your Human Resources person with your school district and share the news. I know my district bumps you up on the pay scale as soon as the school issues that piece of paper, and they can help you get it sooner.

Very cool! Congratulations on all your hard work paying off. :)

Thanks hon- there is no human resources- I think I have to go to the BoOard of Ed in Brooklyn. The sad thing is that no one tells anyone what they need to do in order to get appointed, pay raises, or permanently certified. It's pathetic.

Thanks, Cheyenne- I've worked my ass of for this- tons of classes, a bazillion papers, a thesis, and internship, and a comprehensive exam. Grad school is no piece o' cake.

Bushido, I need my Christmas goose in person!

Thank you Morgy. :)

just becouse you've got that piece of paper i don't want you ruling out sleeping around to get ahead young lady.

:p

congratulations minxie!

How did I not even know you were in school Minxie?

What an amazing accomplishment! Wow.....I'm in awe. You know I hold a special place in my heart for special ed teachers too. :)

Are you in favor of integrated classrooms?

Cheers!

Who says I need hte excuse of getting ahead in order to sleep around?

Ruby, this is my 6th year teaching in an integrated classroom, so I am for it to an extent. I have to say that it'sa wonderful idea in theory, but in practice it doesn't always work. The ratio of students with disabilities to students without disabilities in my classroom does not reflect the actual population in the US. I have 8 special education children and 13 general ed children in my class, and even with two teachers it poses a lot of problems. Several of my students have emotional and behavioral as well as academic problems, and it's a lot to handle. There really should be only two or three students with special needs in a general education setting. The population of people with disabilities in the US is about 10%, so in a class or 26 children, two or three children with special needs would reflect real life.

There are also some children who really need a small class setting in order to learn, so I don't think that an integrated classroom is best for all students.
