Betta Fish.

I went out yesterday (after spending mass time talking to a Betta expert online) and bought myself a blue and red male Betta.

His name is Skippy Seymour (don't ask.. Kimber named him) and he is happily residing in a 2.5 gallon heated/filtered tank with a cool little rock and a plant to hide in.

Congrats, and cool.

They are cool little fish... I took care of my boss's office fish for 4 months while she was out on medical leave...Now whenever I come into the office he starts to wiggle around like he's all happy to see me... I know the little fart thinks I am the FOOD lady...LOL

have fun with Seymour...:)

Thank you :)

I'm having a lot of fun watching this one.

Can't wait to start feeding him bloodworms. Heard that is cool to watch.

freaky, want to know a kewl trick?

Place a mirror right next to the bowl. His fins will start to flare up and he will swim side to side in a crazy manner. Beta's look beautiful when they do that.

I did something even better.. I have another Betta in another tank that I'm babysitting. I put the tanks side by side. The older (Red Betta named "Redd") won the battle of the flares. He is older and much larger than Skippy.. so when he flared and danced Skippy freaked.. he flared once then went to hide under his rock.

Once Skippy gets used to your face, he will follow you around in the tank. Just go side to side. It's really kewl.

I'm Soo Happy For You!

Fishkeeping Is A Blast!:D

Bettas Are One Of The Coolest Fishes, I'm Always Impressed How Smart They Are. A Betta Expert, Huh? Didjoo Find Him At That Link I Gave You?

RNAB *tip my hat to you* Yes, I did. Thank you so very much. That link has proven to be a lifesaver.. and as Mr Freaky said.. detrimental (sp?) to our check book. I'm one of those that goes all out. I'll have the most spoiled fish on the block. ;) I spent 2.5 hours picking out "the" fish. I wanted a purple or black one but PetSmart didn't have any..so I settled for the blue and red. He really is an amazing fish.

agezinder-he already does that to Kimber.. He knows her face and actually comes over to the side of the tank when she peeks in.

Islandman-Prove it ;)

My pet pirahna "Petey" could take your turtles, oscars and betas anytime! Preferably at lunch time though.

For which movie did you get an Oscar? Granted, it is metal and pointy, so conceivably it could hurt my turtle.

Pirahna Only Attack From Behind,

And Oscars Have That Little Spot On Their Tails Making It Look Like They Have An Eye On Both Ends!

Natural Defence For Them From Those Nasty Little Beasts In The Amazon Rivers. Better Hope Yer Pirahna Are Big, Cuz One Good Suck And They Be Gone:D

I'm Glad You Found It To Be Helpful, Freakygurl!

Oscarfish.com If Ya Wanna Know Bout Those Sweet Fish:D

Mr Freaky'll Be Traumatized Bout Those Little Purchases! LOL

Hands off! Mr. Freaky's all mine.

And his nightstick. In the bathroom. With the handrails.

Yeah.

;)

Beta's are so cool! I love how colorful they are :)

Must be weekend of the pets! We've adopted ourselves two hampsters: Fuzzy and Climber. Those are the second round names. The first round names were: Hamtaro, and Butterscotch Carmel.

When we had a beta, we had one problem. We stuck an algea eater in with it, and when there wasn't enough algea for it to eat, it started trying to eat any algea off the beta, and started attacking it.

So, unless you have 2 or 3 other fish in there, then don't stick one in there. ;)
