I'm not American, but I do like the tradition of sharing something that we're thankful for at least once a year. And in the midst of all the complaining and griping that's been going on here during the past few months, I think it would be nice to express some appreciation for Literotica for a change.

Does that make me a fanboy? Possibly. But if you think so, keep it to yourself or save it for another thread. Save your complaints for other threads as well - God knows there are plenty of them. Let's keep this one positive, and remind ourselves of why we're all still here.

I'll start with a simple one but a biggie: I'm thankful for the opportunity to improve my writing by having a place to publish and receive feedback.

I am thankful for all my readers, but particularly those who have been with me from the beginning and watched me grow as a writer, offering their support and encouragement along the way.

On a non-Lit note, I am thankful for my In-Laws, who do not believe I can cook, and who taught me that macaroni and cheese is an essential part of Thanksgiving dinner.

I'm thankful for the community here in so many ways.

I;m thankful for the writers who take their craft seriously (even if not always themselves) and are willing to share their expertise with those of us who are still struggling.

I'm thankful for the many members of this community who put up with me. I've felt more welcomed into this community than any in a longtime.

I'm especially thankful for the two close friends I have made here who have supported me through bad times and celebrated good ones with me.

I am thankful for the simple and happy stories I could disappear into when my depression was at its worst.

I am thankful for the ease and simplicity of getting my first story published, and the very nice reception it has gotten.

I am thankful for the welcoming, fun, and occasionally studious atmosphere I have been met with here. And the fact that I can not only use this place as a less intense practice run for (hopefully soon) regaining a social life IRL, but I have met great people here and made at least one true friend.

I'm thankful for Literotica. I'm approaching my 9th anniversary as a published author here. I can't believe the time has gone by so fast. I would never have imagined, when I submitted my first story, that I would publish so many stories and that this place would have become such a big part of my life. It's been enormously gratifying to publish stories and know that there are readers, quite a few of them, who enjoy what I write. In honor of this holiday, I forgive all those who have the bad taste not to appreciate me!

I also enjoy this forum. For all the griping and arguing, to which I have sometimes contributed, this is a comparatively intelligent and civilized forum by social media standards, and I'm grateful for that. There's a healthy appreciation for humor here, as well, which makes it all the more fun.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.

I am thankful that LitE exists as a medium for expressing the fantasies lurking in my mind, and is here to bring my characters to life.

I am thankful for the friends here, especially those of you in the coffee shop, who so graciously tolerate my silly wordplay, and provide so much entertainment. A frequent phrase around our house is, "My friends in the coffee shop said...".

My characters are thankful, too, that they're not the only ones who have to put up with my adolescent-grade joking around, and that I'm an equal-opportunity punster.

And, finally, I'm thankful for the plot bunnies, who hop around the house and yard with reckless abandon, distracting me from chores and things the adult me really should be doing. [Oh, gawd. There's another one. Thanksgiving story with the entire poly family. Pandemonium. No, Cyan, you cannot use the hot tub to thaw the turkey.]

Happy thanksgiving, all. Even for you folks across the ponds.

To be crass for a moment, this is the best jerk-off material I've found in my life, provided by devoted hobbyists like myself.

It's also a great way to get experience writing and publishing. In four months I went from having only one person read my fiction to 20,000. (Rough estimate, of course, but something like that.) The amount and type of engagement varies, but it's still amazing.

I also want to thank Stillstunned for going way beyond the call of duty in being a positive contributor to this forum for a few years now and helping to keep this place fun, creative, and interesting. I've ribbed him once or twice for his "obsession" with new writer challenges and he always handles things with aplomb and a great sense of humor.

That's me. I'm forever telling the redhead, "Do you want to see me handle my thing with aplomb and humour?"

(Seriously: thanks for the kind words.)

This is starting to sound like an AA meeting.

My name is yowser and I'm a Literaddict.

I am grateful for all the other writerly denizens here, with stories more warped than my own.

I bow in front of intelligent readers, who keep us coming back.

I believe in the Higher Power of Arousal to change the world.

I'm thankful to Lit for giving us this forum as our playground. I'm sure that, much as Laurel is glad to delegate the Q&A of publishing woes to us, there are times when she wonders whether it's really worthwhile.

So I appreciate having this space to meet likeminded people with similar interests, similar writing concerns and a similar sense of humour. When I first started writing, I saw Lit as nothing more than a platform to publish my stories. I've come to see that the forums makes it much more than that for many of us, including people who only post on other forums that I rarely visit.

So @Laurel and @Manu, thank you for the Authors' Hangout!
