Actually I'm flying into LaGuardia. Same thing.

I'm going back to New York next month. Woo-hoo! I'll only be there for two days, but Woo-Fucking-Hoo! I've only been back a few times since moving to Los Angeles, and always in the dead of winter. Now I'm going back in mid-July. Hot town, summer in the city...

So. Can anyone give me advice on what to do and see while I'm town? And if anyone actually answers that question you just aren't paying attention.

I suppose I'll have to see Ground Zero. Actually, I think I'll take the A train to West Fourth instead. That was my stop for years when I worked the clubs in the Village, and every night as I stepped out of the subway station I could see the Towers downtown. So, to go there now, to come out of the West Fourth Subway Station, and not see the Towers, well, that will probably bring the whole thing home to me more than looking at the hole at Chambers Street.

Well gee. You'll be in kissing distance from me...

Does this mean I can get your autograph in my Lit book?

That would be weird -- signing my name "Dixon Carter Lee". I don't know if I've ever done that. Hmm. Better practice...

lovetoread- love your av :)

Dixon- say hi to Carrie Bradshaw for me. We were lovers once, but she couldn't give up smoking.

Yayati- you are still the part of my mirror that I use as a target for the occasional rare festering pimple.

I went to NYC for the first time since 9/11 2 months ago. It's undescribably eerie. I was struck dumb. Just stood there, staring for about 20 minutes. Didn't even realise I was crying. Got the hell out of there when some strager offered me a tissue. Wonderful gesture, but I hate fucking crying.

The rest of the city is as it always has been, but people walk a little shorter, when you get close to the towers.

I hear ya sunstruck...I went into the city 2 weeks after and the first thing that hits you is the thousand upon thousands of flyers pasted over every wall of the missing...holy shit I almost broke down...espcially after walking by a firehouse with their floweres and posters...

...it was a freaky experience I hope to never feel again...

other than that there's a great coffee shop over near 13th near the hospital...

go see Letterman!

Hi Dixon... when i went i didn't get to go to the empire state building...but if you go to ground zero say a few words for me
