Yep, that's right. I'm planning on doing a bad thing.

One of the guys in work has a spare motorcycle gas tank that is a bit larger than mine. It is deeper and wider but the same length and has the same mounting system. Even the fuel line comes out in the same spot. I'm thinking of putting it on my bike to get better range. (It's a 3.5 gallon tank as opposed to my 2.5 gallon tank.)

The bad thing? It's a Harley Tank not a Honda Tank. It's called sacrilidge I'm sure.

I suppose I'll be calling my bike a Honda Davidson when I'm done.

Sacrilege: Yup
Being smart: Most definitely

Sacrilege!

Just make sure your health insurance is paid up when you make the switch. Not a threat, you know, just a health suggestion. I know your history.

There may be tissue rejection, so watch it. ;)

I'm not sure that tank is going to stay on that....that.... I can't even say that word:D

It's a hybrid!

We ancient Brits would call it a bastard, a bitsa, or a botch-up.

In England and Wales you would have to tell your insurance company and they would increase your premium because the bike was no longer standard.

Why such small tanks anyway? I presume you mean US gallons. Even my 1957 125cc motorcycle had a 2 Imperial gallon tank despite 110/120 miles to the Imperial gallon. My 350cc had a 4.5 gallon tank with mpg of 85/90; my 500cc a 5 gallon tank with mpg of 70/75. Each gave a reasonable range of operation before switching to reserve.

That sounds like a good thing Cat. Besides, the fuel tank is well-known as the most reliable part of a Harley.

Og, it's because of aesthetics.

A smaller tank looks nicer.

If it gives me more range then it's a good thing in my book. Then again I'm not a purist.
