...of the "H1N1"-party.

Last week I was bedridden for a week, 3 days of 39 degrees of fever, coughing and feeling like s***.

But hey, it had to happen sooner or later.

Did you get H1N1?

Did you get vaccine?

What "club" are you a member of?

Oh, poor boo. :(:heart::rose:

I haven't had it yet. *knocks on wood*
I don't do vaccines anymore, because of various health complications, so I'm taking my chances.

Vaccine-er, here. H1N1 and 'seasonal', as well. I've always had a very robust immune system and I believe in giving it exercise.

Had H1N1. Fever lasted about 12 hours. Cough and tiredness lasted a fortnight.

I've had the seasonal flu jab. I'm due, but haven't yet had, the H1N1 jab. I'm not a very high risk category because I have had several flu episodes in my life and survived them all.

Been there, done that, got the H1N1 T-shirt.

In total, it took about 6 weeks to clear up. There is a view that says "taking the Tamiflu makes it seem worse". I can go along with that.
The cough felt like a bramble (or Gorse) bush was being dragged from the bottom of my lungs out of the throat.
The only 'good' thing that's come out of it is that I no longer smoke.

Steaming a bit is okay, though. ;)

Done it too... I'm still coughing. I should never have gotten that damn vaccine. It gets me every time.

Regular flu shot, but the H1N1 only arrives here for the "at risk" groups today (although they've been through the schools with the vacine). Have no idea when it will even be made available to me.

Not soon. The FDA just recalled 800,000 doses because it showed ZERO effectivness. That's what I had

I had H1N1 early. Ten days ill, two weeks feeling like an invalid, and then a relapse of the fatigue and weakness about three weeks later.:(:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Now, we are being visited by a short-term stomach thing.

I had a short bout with a sinus infection around mid-November. I feel fine right now.

I'm backing slowly out of this thread and spraying myself down liberally with Lysol, just to make sure.

From which, Sarah, we assume all things are going well in the "Heart-valve plus" department. Enjoy your Christmas.

Probably not, Jen.

They recalled pediatric doses due to 1/6 diminished potency. They state children will still build immunity though it may take a little longer.

Our family got the first flu shot two months ago and finally managed to get the H1N1 last week. Young son was thrilled with the flu mist (nose spray) rather than the arm jab.

They are now offering the vaccines to everyone around here. It was interesting to note that my husband did not fit into the high risk group for the H1N1. He does for the regular flu shot, they don't want anything attacking his artificial valve, but he was a regular shmoe for H1N1.

Sympathies, Snoop, and everyone afflicted! We're hoping it'll pass us by. :rose:

The microbiologist I sleep with states that it appears that since H1N1 arrived first and the immunity it builds (eventually!) also gives a measure of protection from the seasonal flu we won't be having a severe late flu season this year. That should be of some encouragement to all, no?

Don't they have a common root ?

My doc said something along similar lines.

He said everybody in the medical community secretely is thankful for H1N1 b/c as you stated, it pushes away more dangerous forms of the flu and it's in general very un-complicated (given the fact that most people - at least here in germany - that died did have some kind of health condition and the "regular" flu is much worse). No one really dares to say it - in respect of the people that died.

But this is in fact one of the subjects that the institute that I study at researches - risk communication. Very intersting field of study.

I've had something for the last two weeks I just can't shake. As the sun goes down every evening the fucking thing takes off again with a fever and a sore throat and I am so bloody tired. If it's not H1N1, it definitely its annoying cousin...
