I'm Off

Smiling... Thank You

Turn Me On
Norah Jones

Like a flower
Waiting to bloom
Like a lightbulb
In a dark room
I'm just sitting here waiting for you
To come on home and turn me on

Like the desert waiting for the rain
Like a school kid waiting for the spring
Im just sitting here waiting for you
To come on home and turn me on

My poor heart
It's been so dark
Since you've been gone
After all you're the one who turns me off
You're the only one who can turn me back on

My hi-fi is waiting for a new tune
My glass is waiting for some fresh ice cubes
I'm just sitting here waiting for you
To come on home and turn me on

Romeo's Tune
Steve Forbert

Let me hear you say
Everything?s OK.
Bring me southern kisses from your room.
Meet me in the middle of the night ?
Let me hear you say
Everything?s all right.
Let me smell the moon in your perfume.

Oh, gods and years will rise and fall and there?s always something more
Lost in talk, I waste my time, and it?s all been said before.
While further down behind the masquerade, the tears are there.
I don?t ask for all that much ? I just want someone to ca-a-a-are! That?s right, now!

Meet me in the middle of the day ?
Let me hear you say
Everything?s OK.
Come on out beneath the shining sun.
Meet me in the middle of the night ?
Let me hear you say
Everything?s all right.
Sneak on out beneath the stars and run! Yeah!
Oh, yeah, yeah!

It?s king and queen and we must go down, now, beyond the chandelier
Where I won?t have to speak my mind and you won?t have to hear
Shreds of news and afterthoughts and complicated scenes.
We?ll weather down behind the light and fade like magazines!
Ah-yaya-yay! I ******* to go now!

Meet me in the middle of the day ?
Let me hear you say
Everything?s OK.
Bring me southern kisses from your room. Hey, hey!
Meet me in the middle of the night ?
Let me hear you say
Everything?s all right.
Let me smell the moon in your perfume. Aw, now!
Meet me in the middle of the day ?
Let me hear you say
Everything?s OK.
Let me see you smiling back at me. He-e-ey!
Meet me in the middle of the night ?
Let me hear you say
Everything?s all right.
Hold me tight. In loving, love is free.
Ow, hey!
O K !

Hi kayte, great to see you here again!

I Want You
Bob Dylan

The guilty undertaker sighs,
The lonesome organ grinder cries,
The silver saxophones say I should refuse you.
The cracked bells and washed-out horns
Blow into my face with scorn,
But it's not that way,
I wasn't born to lose you.
I want you, I want you,
I want you so bad,
Honey, I want you.

The drunken politician leaps
Upon the street where mothers weep
And the saviors who are fast asleep,
They wait for you.
And I wait for them to interrupt
Me drinkin' from my broken cup
And ask me to
Open up the gate for you.
I want you, I want you,
I want you so bad,
Honey, I want you.

Now all my fathers, they've gone down
True love they've been without it.
But all their daughters put me down
'Cause I don't think about it.

Well, I return to the Queen of Spades
And talk with my chambermaid.
She knows that I'm not afraid
To look at her.
She is good to me
And there's nothing she doesn't see.
She knows where I'd like to be
But it doesn't matter.
I want you, I want you,
I want you so bad,
Honey, I want you.

Now your dancing child with his Chinese suit,
He spoke to me, I took his flute.
No, I wasn't very cute to him,
Was I?
But I did it, though, because he lied
Because he took you for a ride
And because time was on his side
And because I . . .
I want you, I want you,
I want you so bad,
Honey, I want you.

Another from the new Crosby Nash album...

I Surrender
David Crosby & Graham Nash

In times of meditation
I can hear the sweetest voice
Sounding out across the distance
Breaking through the noise

Then there comes a vision
And then a touch so tender
No more indecision
I surrender

I try and keep my heart protected
I try and keep my cool
But just as I suspected
I don’t make the rules

I’m giving myself over
No more great pretender
I wanna be your lover
I surrender
I surrender
I surrender

I’m giving myself over
No more great pretender
I wanna be your lover
I surrender
I surrender
I surrender
I surrender
I surrender

:rose:   :rose:

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,

I shall not live in vain.

~ Emily Dickinson

To Her....

Holding you in my arms again
That warm and loving embrase
To kiss those lips so full and soft
Feel your heart beat next to mine

A slow drive back along the lake
Savoring your hand in mine
A stolen kiss at a traffic light
My god it will be fine

Lay you down upon my bed
Soothing oils to rid the stress
Now that we're undressed
Love you slow and gentle now
More to come, so much more to come

This place, this time is ours my dear
Feel it's pulse run through your soul
Come to me and let's be bold
Love together till we get old.

You don't have to say a word,
Of love and all its glory.
For when I look into Your face,
Your eyes, they tell the story.

Your tender eyes relate the things
Only a heart can say.
They cry, and when they smile again,
They chase the clouds away.

In every fleeting glance I find
New faith is given me.
Your eyes suggest riches, beyond gold,
That only I am blessed to see.

And when I seek an answer to
Some problem close at hand,
Just the way You look at me
Tells me....You understand.

I hope that when You look at me,
You too, can realize
The peace I feel while gazing in
The wonder of Your eyes.

My body, I find, is burning with lust.
Is this fair, oh yes, all that I feel is a must.
No more running from this one inside;
Perhaps, with You, I can confide.

My joys, my sorrows, my pain,
My laughter, my sensual side, singing in the rain;
My tears, my vulnerability, and so much more,
All of this I yearn for, desire, crave, more than ever before.

And so, in trust, I offer You my hand,
Knowing with kindness, it You demand,
My loyalty, my femininity, all that is me.
Yes, all of this is what You command.

As I gaze into Your eyes, I know I am Yours.
No turning back, from this Gift I shall give,
With honor, and dignity, oh how I shall thrive.
For now, in my surrender, I truly shall live.....

In every fleeting glance I find
New faith is given me.
Your eyes suggest riches, beyond gold,
That only I am blessed to see.

To Be Alone with You
Bob Dylan 1969

To be alone with you
Just you and me
Now won't you tell me true
Ain't that the way it oughta be?
To hold each other tight
The whole night through
Ev'rything is always right
When I'm alone with you.

To be alone with you
At the close of the day
With only you in view
While evening slips away
It only goes to show
That while life's pleasures be few
The only one I know
Is when I'm alone with you.

They say that nighttime is the right time
To be with the one you love
Too many thoughts get in the way in the day
But you're always what I'm thinkin' of
I wish the night were here
Bringin' me all of your charms
When only you are near
To hold me in your arms.

I'll always thank the Lord
When my working day's through
I get my sweet reward
To be alone with you.

Every Morning
Keb' Mo'

Every mornin', every evenin', every day I, I think of you
The way you love me, through and through

When I'm with you, it feels like heaven
You're an angel, holdin' me
Your sweet, sweet lovin', it sets me free

And in my wildest, imagination,
I could never, imagine you
Lovin' me as much as, as I do love you

And it may be winter, it may be fall
I might have plenty, or nothin' at all
But baby I'll be there, whenever you call, ever you call

'Cause every mornin', and every evenin', every day I, I think of you
The way you love me, through and through
The way you love me, through and through

BLIND WILLIE McTELL
(Bob Dylan)

Seen the arrow on the door post saying "This land is condemned"
All the way from New Orleans to Jerusalem.
I traveled through East Texas where many martyrs fell
And I know one thing, nobody can sing them blues like Blind Willie McTell.

Well, I heard the hoot-owl singing as they were taking down the tents
The stars above all the barren trees were his only audience.
Yeah, them charcoal gypsy maidens can strut their feathers well
And I know one thing, nobody can sing them blues like Blind Willie McTell.

See them big plantations a-burning, can't you hear the cracking of the whips,
Smell that sweet magnolia blossom blooming, see the ghosts of the slavery ships.
Well, I can hear them tribes a-moanin', I can hear the undertaker's bell
And I know one thing, nobody can sing them blues like Blind Willie McTell.

There's a woman she's standing by the river, she is with some fine young handsome man
See he's all dressed just like a squire, he's got bootleg whiskey in his hand.
Yeah, there's a chain-gang out on the highway and I can hear them rebels yell
And I know one thing, nobody can sing them blues like Blind Willie McTell.

God, oh God is in Heaven and we all want what is His
But the power and greed, the corruptible seed seems to be all that there is.
Hey, hey, I'm a-gazing out the window of the St. James Hotel
And I know one thing, nobody can sing them blues like Blind Willie McTell.
Hey, hey, I know one thing, nobody can sing them blues like Blind Willie McTell.

CROSSROAD BLUES
(Robert Johnson)

I went to the crossroads, fell down on my knees
I went to the crossroads, fell down on my knees
Asked the Lord above, have mercy now,
Save poor Bob if you please

Standin' at the crossroads, tried to flag a ride
Whee-hee, I tried to flag a ride
Didn't nobody seem to know me, everybody pass me by

Standin' at the crossroads, risin' sun goin' down
Standin' at the crossroads baby, the risin' sun goin' down
I believe to my soul now, po' Bob is sinkin' down

You can run, you can run, tell my friend Willie Brown
You can run, you can run, tell my friend Willie Brown
That I got the crossroad blues this mornin',
Lord, baby I'm sinkin' down

I went to the crossroad, mama, I looked east and west
I went to the crossroad, babe, I looked east and west
Lord, I didn't have no sweet woman, ooh well,
Babe, in my distress

Need some rest here....thanks everyone for putting up with our fawning, romantic countdown. Our friends have bouyed my heart when this LDR gets me down. She appreciates it as much, I know. Maybe more...because it helps me so much. That's how she is. Have a great weekend and week upcoming.

I'm off.....

This song is just beautiful

Nuevas Senoritas
Indigo Girls

Well we blew off immigration, the moon was sitting high,
as we drove from the Lacandon into Comitan.

Gloria was singing and Cecilia closed her eyes,
and I saw them drifting out over the night sky.

Nuevas Senoritas,
are you gone to brighter days?
Have you found your greener valleys
and the place where your heart lays?

I'm heading back to the flatlands and you're heading up to the
hills.
The rain brings you home in the middle of July.

I guess I just got lonesome when I think about how you feel,
with six months gone and no one to dry your eyes.

Nuevas Senoritas,
are you gone to brighter days?
Have you found your greener valleys
And the place where your heart lays.

I Dig a Pony
The Beatles

I dig a pony
Well you can celebrate anything you want
Yes you celebrate anything you want
Ooh.

Well you can penetrate any place you go,
Yes you can penetrate any place you go
I told you so, all I want is you.
Ev’rything has got to be just like you want it to.
Because –
I pick a moon dog
Well you can radiate ev’rything you are
Yes you can radiate ev’rything you are –
Ooh.
I roll a stoney
Well you can imitate ev’ryone you know
Yes you can imitate ev’ryone you know.
I told you so, all I want is you.
Ev’rything has got to be just like you want it to.
Because –
I feel the wind blow
Well you can indicate ev’rything you see
Yes you can indicate ev’rything you see –
Ooh.
I dig a pony
Well you can syndicate any boat you row
Yes you can syndicate any boat you row.
I told you so, all I want is you.
Ev’rything has got to be just like you want it to.

IT TAKES A LOT TO LAUGH, IT TAKES A TRAIN TO CRY
(Bob Dylan)

Well, I ride on a mailtrain, baby,
Can't buy a thrill.
Well, I've been up all night, baby,
Leanin' on the window sill.
Well, if I die
On top of the hill
And if I don't make it,
You know my baby will.

Don't the moon look good, mama,
Shinin' through the trees?
Don't the brakeman look good, mama,
Flagging down the "Double E"?
Don't the sun look good
Goin' down over the sea?
Don't my gal look fine
When she's comin' after me?

Now the wintertime is coming,
The windows are filled with frost.
I went to tell everybody,
But I could not get across.
Well, I wanna be your lover, baby,
I don't wanna be your boss.
Don't say I never warned you
When your train gets lost.

SUNDAY MORNING COMING DOWN ~ Johnny Cash
(Kris Kristofferson)

Well I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head, that didn't hurt
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt.
Then I washed my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day.

I'd smoked my mind the night before
With cigarettes and the songs I'd been pickin'
But I lit my first and watched a small kid
Playin' with a can that he was kicking
Then I walked across the street
And caught the Sunday smell of someone's fryin' chicken
And it took me back to somethin'
That I'd lost somewhere, somehow along the way.

On a Sunday morning sidewalk
I'm wishing Lord that I was stoned
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothin' short of dyin'
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of a sleepin' city sidewalk
And Sunday mornin' comin' down.

In the park I saw a daddy
With a laughin' little girl who he was swingin'
And I stopped beside a Sunday school
And listened to the songs they were singin'
Then I headed down the street
And somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringin'
And it echoed thru the canyon
Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday.

On a Sunday morning sidewalk
I'm wishing Lord that I was stoned
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothin' short of dyin'
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of a sleepin' city sidewalk
And Sunday mornin' comin' down.

JUNGLELAND

The rangers had a homecoming in Harlem late last night
And the Magic Rat drove his sleek machine over the Jersey state line
Barefoot girl sitting on the hood of a Dodge
Drinking warm beer in the soft summer rain
The Rat pulls into town rolls up his pants
Together they take a stab at romance and disappear down Flamingo Lane

Well the Maximum Lawman run down Flamingo chasing the Rat and the barefoot
girl
And the kids round here look just live like shadows always quiet, holding hands
From the churches to the jails tonight all is silence in the world
As we take our stand down in Jungleland

The midnight gang's assembled and picked a rendezvous for the night
They'll meet `neath that giant Exxon sign that brings this fair city light
Man there's an opera out on the Turnpike
There's a ballet being fought out in the alley
Until the local cops, Cherry Tops, rips this holy night
The street's alive as secret debts are paid
Contacts made, they vanished unseen
Kids flash guitars just like switch-blades hustling for the record machine
The hungry and the hunted explode into rock'n'roll bands
That face off against each other out in the street down in Jungleland

In the parking lot the visionaries dress in the latest rage
Inside the backstreet girls are dancing to the records that the D.J. plays
Lonely-hearted lovers struggle in dark corners
Desperate as the night moves on, just a look and a whisper, and they're gone

Beneath the city two hearts beat
Soul engines running through a night so tender in a bedroom locked
In whispers of soft refusal and then surrender in the tunnels uptown

The Rat's own dream guns him down as shots echo down them hallways in the
night
No one watches when the ambulance pulls away
Or as the girl shuts out the bedroom light

Outside the street's on fire in a real death waltz
Between flesh and what's fantasy and the poets down here
Don't write nothing at all, they just stand back and let it all be
And in the quick of a knife they reach for their moment
And try to make an honest stand but they wind up wounded, not even dead
Tonight in Jungleland
