Hey folks,

I'm new to the message boards here, but i've had stories on here for about a year. This discussion groups seems really interesting to me, but i'm not sure how to go about getting started. I read the how to post at the beginning of this board, but couldnt tell what i was supposed to do. Do I have to join in a discussion on stories previously posted before I can post a story for discussion and also when i do post a story for discussion do i need to do a new thread?

I'd really like to actively participate, but I've got to figure out what i'm supposed to do.

Thanks for any help on this subject.

Welcome Rene,

The best way to get started is to choose two stories (or more if you're so inclined) that have been previously posted for discussion and then offer critiques on them. The current featured story is Den Sel's in this thread:

Den Sel's Story

Others you might want to check out include:

Varian's Story

CharleyH's story

Any of the past stories that have been offered with the heading of "Grassroots discussion" are fair game for critique. In order to have your story featured for discussion, you'll have to do two (2) critiques of previously featured stories first.

The other thing you'll want to do is sign up for the "story queue" by introducing yourself in the "Discussion" thread at the top of this forum. Pure is our traffic director and he will schedule your story to be featured and give you any further instructions you might need.

I know it seems confusing at first, but it's really rather straightforward once you get the hang of it. Hope to see you joining us. Many of us have found that critiqueing others's stories is just as helpful to our own work as it is to the authors we critique.
