I'm home with my six-year-old. He was feeling pretty punky the last few days with a gradually worsening cough (but no temperature). We grew annoyed with doctor's office telling us over and over it was probably just viral.
When he woke up with a slight temp yesterday (and a look of total woe) we took him in at 8:00. Diagnosis? Walking pneumonia and the beginnings of strep - damn it anyway.
BUT - we caught that condition very early. And our pediatrician is excellent - he didn't dick around. Zithromax - broad spectrum antibiotic with just 3 doses.
Yesterday morning I was worried. By last evening I was tired but happy because he was already showing improvement with just one dose of meds.
And now? Right now he's playing Hulk on his Gameboy. If it weren't for his occasional cough (and the fact that mommy has him bundled up on the couch in a big comforter with pillow and juice next to him) I don't think you'd even realize he was sick.
Pretty cool.
SO - what fun, naughty, or interesting things happen in the AH when I'm usually at work?
