I'm looking for a serious study of sex.

Does anyone know of any books about subjects like incest, not child abuse but the voluntary variety. I have a couple of friends who have fooled around with their sisters/brothers, and have become curious about the subject. I have flirted with a cousin on occasion, though neither of us were willing to go anywhere with it. It seams to me that this sort of thing could lead to some dangerous complications, say if things start to get emotional and it stops being about sex alone.

I don't know of any actual books, offhand, just the stories I have read online. Sawwy I couldn't help.

Studies of Incest

To some extent, the study of incest is NOT a problem of finding material, but rather sifting thru the mountain of it to focus on stuff related to YOUR issues.

For example, in the standard diagnostic manual of psychology and behavior for the treatment of mental illness, a book whose first initials are "DSM" followed by a Roman numeral indicating edition (my copy is DSM-IV, now out of date), there are entries related to incest. They are tied to various forms of dysfunctional behavior, however, and not what you want to know.

Or do you?

The parts you may end up MOST needing are genetic. If you and the cousin get VERY close, you had better know about the risks of genetic problems in offspring.

This is the real reason for most restrictions against incest. In ancient Egypt brother and sister often married, especially in the Pharonic lines. There are many good reasons why that should not be done, more often emotional and psychological than genetic.

Sociology and psychology are the two fields you should research most closely for interpersonal dynamics. Genetics matters if you and your cousin decide to abandon birth control. And if your family issues are involved, too, perhaps you should study airline schedules for someplace really far away.

You're not getting me, Will

I'm not trying to find ways to bang my cousin. I'm just interested in the subject, has anyone studied it (like Kinsy wrote his study about sex). I'm not interested in abuse, to me that is a different subject. I just know quite a few folks who are seemingly normal, but like sexual adventure when they are behind closed doors. Good Catholic boys and girls even.
