I think that's an anachronistic outlook. The 2004 Juniors were just as team oriented as any edition but had awesome offensive skill and talent. Crosby was on the second line for crissakes.

Obvioulsy there is exception to every rule, but our programs all emphasis team concepts and 'systems' first, even at the atom level.

Our pride is found in heart and tenacity, the protypical Canadian player is a power forward (Brendan Shanahan) or stud Defenceman (Pronger or Phaneuf)... Gretzky's or Orrs or Crosbies don't come around all that often.

No clue. Canada produces as much offensive skill as anyone.

Having a team concept or a system does not mean the trap. You can have an open, free wheeling system that relies on the offensive talent on your team being creative and playing well as a team. Look at the gold medal from 2002.

To me, the prototypical Canadian player is more Joe Sakic than Brendan Shanahan.
