... learning the U.S. presidents by heart. [short rant] Why do there have to be so many of them? Why do their names all have to sound alike? Why did they not all live to see two consecutive terms? Why did I never hear of some of them (Zachary Taylor, Willard fillmore anyone???)[/short rant]

Sorry for wasting some of your time....

Since you still have my pithy quote in your sig ... I'd advise you to find an MP3 of the Animaniac's President's Song. That's how my kids learned 'em. :D

Because as Ameriacan's we like a diverse assortment of leaders.
By the end of time we hope to have let everyone have a chance.

Oh, they did one about presidents? I only know the one about the states. And I already know them by heart.

:)

Well said. But that doesn't help at all. :)

I find this amusing because I am a natural born American citizen and never had to learn the presidents by heart. We only seemed to hit the high points(or low points, depending on your perspective) during my stint in public schools.

No but we did have to learn the capitals of all the states, it was 49 when I was in grammer school. Then in high school we had to, well if you took history, all those silly dates about things I would never discuss with anyone. And algerbra, I thought when will I ever have to find X.

And Here I am a Software Engineer needing to find X all the time.

Just be grateful it's not all of the English/British monarchs or, even worse, all the rulers of China.

By the way, it's Millard Fillmore. And how could you leave out, Franklin Pierce? :)

I'm in the midst of.......

.....making bread/pizza base.

I usually use dried instant yeast that's added straight to the flour/liquid mixture back in UK (it cuts out one of the risings and the whole preparation/baking time in half), but couldn't find any here, so I'm having to revert to the old yeast/sugar/warm liquid method, which also involves two risings.

Add to that, I'm using an electric oven where I'm used to gas.

*le sigh*.

Supper could be a little later than expected.
The results could be slightly different to what I am expecting.

Watch this space.

Would you mind sharing your recipe, Mat? I love making homemade pizza, and the crust is always a problem for me.

There is instant yeast out there, though, and I have a gas oven. :D
