I'm gonna kill my camera!

I took some pictures....(i promised a few LITeroticans i would) and wouldn't you know it...my cable has these tiny tiny little prongs...and somehow they got bent!!! So now the computer doesn't register the camera as being plugged in!!!! :'( I can't load the pictures...I can either beg my brother to fix it.....or rip out the batteries and delete the pictures so no one sees them!!!

If it's the same round, six-pin plug my amera uses, there aren't any plier made that can reach in and straighten the pins -- there's just not enough room.

Depending on how badly the pins are bent, you might be able to straigten them with a safety pin, Darning needle, or other similar sharp object.

If you try to straighten the pins, work very slowly and very gently because if you bend them back too fast, they'll snap off.

From past experience with miniature plugs, I'm guessing that you need to find the camera manufaturer's website and order a new cable.

This isnt the first time the damned thing has done this...needle nose pliers might work....but im gonna battle this tommorrow...maybe a straight pin? Who knows...its the camera earthlink gave out when you buy their service....way back when...(a year?) An el cheapo but still the only one i have...so if it dies.... no more pictures...(which maybe isnt a bad thing?)

If you need a different camera...the Logitech Quickcam goes for about $22 here in Oregon and does a very reasonable job. As far as straightening the pins, many times the edge of a credit card will work or the small jewelers screwdrivers (available anywhere--but Radio Shack has a set for $4.99) Good luck! AA

A thought: If it takes more force than about twice that required to flip a light switch to plug in your camera, then it's a pretty good clue it isn't lined up right and the pins are bending.

Damned pc cams... Mine has turned into and evil and anwry little thing. I hate it. I got a new one but the pictures it takes are for shit. So, now I will have to be on the phone with some technician to get my good one to work...Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I got the pictures....saved the good ones....and my camera btw is SHIT the quality ....the just overal stuff! (is so angry at it she's at a loss for words) FNORD!!

((the cable plugs in my PC at one end like a usb thingy...but then the cable plugs into the camera like the prong thingy...))

It's not all that bad for a "freeby" camera. I've had film cameras that didn't take as good a picture as that.

(of course, a cheerful naked lady always makes for a better picture than boring scenery any day. )
