Well, if merlot is passe, then it's obviously time for some Sangiovese. I've been looking for a reason to try CASA GIRELLI's "Sangiovese-Primitivo Puglia Ti Amo" 2001, Ruby... I think a glass would send me off to dreamland in a perfectly relaxed state of mind.

I agree it has never been out of style. Wine flowed more freely than beer in my childhood home as well. Still does.

carbanet is good. But I prefer a fullbodied Burgundy or a Rioja.
