I agree, but it's possible that we are making a mistake by judging from the standpoint of our own generation. I'd say that being a young man in your time or in my time is somewhat different than being a young man today.

I notice that my reading and my writing preferences are way far apart. Writing, I can go really dark without feeling perturbed. Reading, not so much. I think it's all about feeling like I'm in a position of power over the situation.

Which is also where the age of consent thing comes in. Kids don't realize how little power they actually have or how stupid they actually are until they're grown. There's so many times when I'm laying in bed at night trying to sleep and some random incident from 15 years ago makes me absolutely cringe--which is good. It means I have grown.

It'd be amazing if fucking the teacher wasn't--at the very least--one of those moments for the kids, and hopefully that's all it ends up being to them, that they don't look back and realize how little power they actually had over the situation and feel violated in a way that causes them issues.
