Ah ha! This whole "I'm getting married" is just a scam for votes!

Why didn't I think of that?
Maybe because I didn't get a story done? :)

It's official! I'm married. I can't stop grinnin'. :D

The ceremony was much more than I expected. The officiant had some beautiful words to say about the 'institution' of marriage (the word 'institution' about made me crack up, but her next words were 'not to be entered into lightly'... sobering). She even had us light a unity candle, which neither of us had done in prior marriages. Her words, amazingly enough, matched our feelings. 'Completion', become 'one', other 'half of your soul'... short, sweet summary.

My husband ( :nana: :D ) made me cry. He took me by complete surprise. He had some words to say before we made our vows. You need some backstory before you will understand the words.

In the summer of 2005 he lived in California, less than 5 miles from the beach. Early one morning, at low tide, he climbed out on a rock and, with a hammer and chisel, carved a message into the rock that would last through the ages: My nickname for him and his nickname for me, inside a 3-D box which held a heart. (Meaning that he was in love with me.) He also created two marble coasters for me, with the same message. With his actions he brought to life our song:

Written in Stone by Randy Travis

I'm gonna take you down to the riverside
Where the water runs slow and wide
There's a big ole rock out in the middle
And I took my hammer and chisel
And worked all night so you could see
Just how much you mean to me
I carved your name right next to mine
And it'll be there till the end of time
And my love will last at least that long

It's written in stone how I feel for you
It's written in stone what I want to do
Spend my life and life hereafter loving you
And darling if we live to be 100
Or if we don't make it half that long
I want you to know how I feel for you
Is written in stone

There's a place on the edge of town
When I was a kid I found
Two names on a stone together
Lying side by side forever
And it was then and there I knew
If I ever thought a love was true
I'd surely want to write it down
On something that would be around
When all the spoken words have come and gone

It's written in stone how I feel for you
It's written in stone what I want to do
Spend my life and life hereafter loving you
And darling if we live to be 100
Or if we don't make it half that long
I want you to know what I feel for you
Is written in stone

And when this life has come and gone
Our love will still be

Written in stone how I feel for you
Written in stone what I want to do
Spend my life and life hereafter loving you
And darling if we live to be 100
Or if we don't make it half that long
I want you to know how I feel for you
Is written in stone

When he flew me to California in August 2005, I got to see the rock.

His words to me before our vows mentioned that rock and how our love was now not only written in stone, but etched on our hearts for eternity. He'd waited 60 years to find me and would find me again in every life hereafter. His words were much more eloquent, but you get the idea.

He says he's the luckiest man alive. I feel like the luckiest woman alive. My family doesn't understand our connection, or my attraction to someone 27 years older that I am, but it doesn't matter. I've found my other half, my life, my breath... the part that completes me. That is all that matters.

Congratulations! Now, what are you doing online during your honeymoon?

Logoff woman! Go attack your husband.

Sadly, we only had last night. :( He had to work today, and I have to make an appearance at the office for some training. Also, with Christmas gifts still to make, our time will be consumed. We just have to sneak attack each other in between.

Hoping that the Chicago Litogether will give us a 'honeymoon' weekend. :D

ETA: I may post some pics later. :D

congratulations beautiful Lady.... may the Goddess smile upon you both
