Okay so it's illegal to not wear clothing on the beach. According to many the sight of nude bodies will cause our children to turn into sex fiends.

Have you seen what is being worn on the beaches lately?

I went to the beach today and all I saw was Bikini's, Thongs and T-Shirts. (Wet T-Shirts in many cases.)

In what way was this different from being topless or nude?

Oh and in case there are those who are going to claim this is just a Southern Florida thing I have to disagree. I have seen it on every beach I have been to from Maine south.

So... what is the problem?

It is obvious.

People who go to the beach want to add more sex fiends to the population.

Try Canada...we may not be as warm as Florida, but "clothing optional" beaches are everywhere, and particularly in Quebec. And remember, we've had a court decision that female toplessness is legal anywhere and any timel in Ontario. If men can go topless, say the esteemed judges, then women have the right as well. No sex discrimination for us!

Beach nekkidness...not necessarily sexual. I don't think the US can handle the concept of "non-sexualized" nudity, though.

Speaking as a crazy woman who breastfeeds (gasp) in public without doing the blanket drape (double gasp) ;)

Do you have any children? I'm young for my age.

And i'll put in my opinion...Anyone who thinks feeding a baby is a sexually arousing act should be arrested for such thoughts about minors and their mothers.

Go Canada

Canadians have apparently passed through an age of enlightment not yet seen by it's southern neighbors.

I am almost certain this in not the place for a serious discussion...but...what the hell...

The history of human clothing ranges from the practical to the fashion minded, but totally nudity, in most all societies ever known, is a rarity reserved for the more advernturous, Bohemian and hippies trying to make a statement of somekind or another.

Observing the total polarity between Eastern and Western societies, one can but wonder why women are totally covered in some places and totally naked in others.

Having lived long enough to observe very chaste times concerning females to the present time where breasts are a dime a dozen and even teeny boppers show cleavage, I begin to wonder if the pendulum might swing back one of these days?

There will not be widespread acceptance of nudity in the U.S. any time soon for two simple reasons:

Americans love to be outraged, and Americans love to sue.

Their loss. Europe's where nudity thrives, I'm fairly certain most German woman don't actually realise that a bikini has a top segment as well as a bottom.

Are you trying to put thong and T-shirt makers out of business? How could you be so unAmerican?

Sadly, I live in the states. And I guess I'm no different from the rest of us. If I saw a topless woman strutting her stuff in my neighborhood I'd sue her pants off!

I knew that intellectually but it was rather a surprise when, on a river cruise, an attractive young lady in a pleasure craft we were passing smiled and waved at our ship. When I did a double take, a fellow passenger quietly admonished me, "Bear, this is Europe. That's the way they do things over here." And, yes, it was in Germany.

Believe it or not, New York State reached that same decision legally in the nineties and it still stands. Anywhere a male can be topless women can be as well.
