Greetings fellow AH-ers!

I think I'm done traveling for the summer, (for the most part!)

Alaska was nice, but not what I expected. British Columbia and the Yukon Territory were amazing! I definitely want to make it back there.

Anyways, pull up a chair and get ready for the picture show. Popcorn is available, and the fridge is stocked with all kinds of delectables!

First picture was taken in southern BC.

Lovely to have you back, McKenna!

This ought to be a fine thread; you can really take good photos!

Another one from the ferry.

(Ooooh and Ahhhhhs are appreciated!)

:D

Ooooh ahhhhhh! Wonderful pics, Mac!

Great to see you back, as well as your AV. ;)

Lou

Min and cantdog, thank you both. It's good to be back.

Below: baby bears, twins. Mama was very close by. I, however, was smart enough to take the picture from the car.

If only tourists in Yellowstone would be so intelligent...

Edit: Picture trouble. Look for baby bears below.

Mama bear... it was fun to watch her interact with her babies. She gave them a few good swats on the rump, too, when they misbehaved!

Speaking of a few good swats on the rear for misbehaviour... *ahem*

Nevermind.

:D

Alrighty then, first big mountain I saw in Alaska, Mt. Blackburn. It's part of the Wrangell Mountains. Pretty impressive at 16,390 feet high!

These bears are True North bears, proud and free? B.C. bears?

Those are very good, btw. Particularly the babies. Well done.

Real mountains! The kind us Mainers have to travel very far to see. How detached from the surround and otherworldly this one looks. How fortunate to have a clear view over the relative flat for it. In New Zealand most of the Alps were difficult to apprehend whole, like this.

Same mountain, different view. Lake Louise, near Glennallen, Alaska.

Yup, wild and free. I saw eight bears in total through BC and the Yukon. All of them were amazing. These three were munching on grass on the side of the road. Kind of reminded me of cows, actually. Cows with very long claws. :D

And thank you for the compliment. It helped that I had a good zoom lens and a steady hand! ;)

Below: View of a glacier near Eureka, Alaska.

Really good to see you, Mack. I've missed you. Lovely pics. Mwah!

It wasn't the same without you though, Luckster.

I suck as a tour guide because I've already forgotten the name of this waterfall. *sigh* Damn. There go all my tips.

What a gorgeous place to live.

Wait till we get to the British Columbia pics on the return trip. ;)

For now though, the picture below is nothing spectacular scenery-wise. But is does show the 'night' sky at about 12:30 am on the eve of summer solstice.

I've missed you to P., and this place. Kinda funny how something grows on you like this forum, eh?

One of my favorite pictures here, just something random that caught my eye while driving down the highway.

Ohhhh, there might be a tip in this for me after all!

;)

Back to British Columbia pictures.... this one shows the miles and miles and miles of trees. BC is so wonderfully wild!
