to my treadmill

I didn't realize that I was going through withdrawals. In moving the clinic, the treadmill was folded up in the corner behind bookcases and boxes.

Opened that puppy up, started it up and settled at a crisp pace, reading Dave Barry Turns 50. That was a mistake... too much like real life.

It's like great sex: skin slick with sweat, heart beating fast, you can feel your blood pumping, feels great, knees all wobbly afterward, and no matter how much you reads about doing it, there's nothing like the real thing

Then there's that meditative thinking space
And a song plays on the headphones and it all makes sense...

If I fell in love with you
Would you promise to be true
And help me understand
'cause I've been in love before
And I found that love was more
Than just holding hands

If I give my heart to you
I must be sure
From the very start
That you would love me more than her

If I trust in you oh please
Don't run and hide
If I love you too oh please
Don't hurt my pride like her
'cause I couldn't stand the pain
And I would be sad if our new love was in vain

So I hope you see that I
Would love to love you
And that she will cry
When she learns we are two

If I fell in love with you

Gotta love the Beatles...

That is why I love biking...it is almost sexual in its build up and release. The tempo increasing, the thighs flexing, the muscles clenching and unclenching, pushing towards that finish line, pushing yourself to the edge, to the limit, and finally crossing over, that sweet feeling of release....

oh my...i think i just fell in love with my Cannondale...

Love, or lust?

;)

Well, since I have had her for five years, it is the longest relationship I have ever been in.

Now that the rains have passed, I want to get back out to run the road. There is a small man made lake close to here and at daybreak, the mist hovers over the water, the herons stand by the edge, looking for fish, ducks still sleeping, quiet, just the soft padding of your shoes.

Is it the same with biking that the first bit is difficult(when running, for me it is that hideous first mile). That release for me is at mile 5. I feel like I could run forever. My legs are warmed up, long strides, thigh muscles warmed and pumping, my breath easy, the sweat slipping down my face, chest and arms, salt crusting as I cool down at mile 6...

Heaven

WOW I'm pathetic

Isn't there a fetish involving being in love with inanimate objects?

And it's not one of those "blow up" bikes, is it?

It's the same. At first you struggle to find the rhythm, then your body develops it's own sympathetic resonance (so to speak) and then it becomes almost gliding. Hills are challenges not obstacles, downgrades are despised as they throw off the synchronicity.
The sweat is a baptism, the heat from the muscles burns impurities from the body, it is all very cathartic.

I could bike all the way to California...

Exactly

I love hill training
To keep my cadence when being challenged with an especially tough grade, I found myself singing the themesong from "The Jeffersons"...gotta get up that hill...

I'll have a big cool glass of water waiting
and a tummy AV to manipulate

As I have said before, sometimes foreplay is overrated
