I've been contracted as the Lighting Designer for this major dance show. I'm going to have to blow the dust off my drafting table, sit through (and pay attention to) rehearsals, and hire and supervise a crew of electricians; stuff I haven't done in years.

It's a nice change of pace from being just a stagehand. I might go back to designing more often.

Nope. That's the price you pay for being in an "artistic" field.

I could join the United Scenic Artists but I don't have the $3000 fee. :rolleyes:

I used to design all the time but drifted away from it because working as a stagehand actually paid more. You don't get the same feeling of seeing your ideas come to life but that paycheck is a pretty good substitute.
