In 2010, I wrote stories under Andthenend, as Susan. Next year, 2011, I'll be writing stories uner SuperHeroRalph, as Christine.

Some truly believe that I'm a heterosexual man, while others are positive that I'm a heterosexual women. Some think that I'm gay, while others think that I'm lesbian.

I'm none of the above. I don't exist or shouldn't exist, if I'm worth anything as a writer. I'm invisible. If you want to call me anything, call me a writer.

My passion is writing. It doesn't matter to me if you think I'm a good writer or a bad writer. What matters to me is knowing that I'm improving as a writer. When I compare what I've written over the years, I can see the improvement and I'm happy.

I'd like to use this thread for those who want to discuss writing, stories, characters, dialogue, categories, or anything that pertains to writing stories. For me, it's all about the story. I love telling a story. I love creating characters, until I can see them well enough to give them control of the keyboard and allow them to write their own damn story.

I suck at editing. I refuse to use an editor. This isn't the Harvard Review, after all, it's a porn site, and I've been criticized for not using an editor. Why don't I use an editor? I'm an accountant by trade and accountants can't afford to make mistakes. If I have to comb through my story in the way that I do with an Excel spreadsheet, than writing isn't fun anymore. It becomes accounting.

I only write stories for the 6 contests. Why? There are a couple of reasons. Contest stories are noticed more. Contest stories appear at the top, whereas, normally my stories are reserved for the bottom of the new page of stories, along with, my buddy, Samuelx, for some reason, and even then, they still shit can my story at the end of the new contest stories for the day.

Contest stories stretch my imagination more than just looking at a blank screen. It's fun to write contest stories, even though I don't expect to win. I realize that winning a contest here is more a popularity contest than it is the best stories win because there are a lot of talented writers here who have never won a contest and then there are those writers who, well, aren't that great and who have won plenty of contests.

Yet, all of that doesn't matter. It's about the story. It's about growing as a writer. Writing is a lifelong apprenticeship. Sure, it takes talent, but writing is something that a college professor cannot teach. Sure, he or she can teach the mechanics of writing, but either you have the talent of you don't. Either you have the discipline to work at getting better or you don't.

Just as I don't know of too many editors that are great writers, I don't know of too many writers that are great editors. Editing and writing are two different animals, yet to publish, the two must work together as a team. My talent is creating the storyline and developing the characters. I love writing dialogue, as much as I love writing narrative.

I don't know what I'd do without this site. This site makes me write every day and every day I write a minimum of 3,000 words, some days more. Yet, if it wasn't for this site, I wouldn't be so disciplined. Thank you Laurel and Manu.

I write every day from 5:30am until 10:30. Then, sometimes, if I'm in the mood, I write again in the afternoon or late at night. To me, my stories aren't dirty stories or pornography, they are erotic literature. It takes a special talent to write an erotic story.

Yeah, sure anyone can write sex in a story but too many of the writers here only write stories that have sex and nothing else, no beginning, no middle, and no end. There's no character development and I've even read stories where they didn't even bother to describe and name the characters.

We, as readers, want to see what the writer is seeing so that we become more engaged and lost in the story. Show me the story, don't tell me the story. Let my mind see for myself. What you see may not be what I see, and that difference between the two makes the story either an average story or a great one.

My plan for 2011 is to write 28 stories in each contest. I've already written 9 stories for the Valentine's Contest and just need to write 19 more. Why do I write so many contest stories?

For me, it's no fun just to write in one or two categories. Life is too diverse. I wish I could write in all 31 story categories, but I can't, four of the 35 categories being poetry categories.

I'm having the time of my life and I hope you will continue to read my stories.

I have a small but loyal following who rave about the depth of my characters adn attention t odetail but of course have nowhere near the views or votes of the stroker "sis looked good in her shorts so I jumped ehr then mom and dad joined in etc..." stories do but would rather have 10,000 reading than 50,000 stroking. My two characters are like my kids and I have fleshed them out as much as possible and you are right THAT is what its all about. Incest is the biggest read on this site. I was fortunate to have the most read story for all of 2010 with I Love You Mommy, written by Elizabeth, WmForrester. When it fell from the top list board, it had more than 500,000 hits.

In 2007, I wrote a Mother-in-law story that amassed more than 800,000 hits and a sister-in-law story that amassed more than 600,000 hits, in only a few months, before I pulled them both to publish.

Yeah, my story Never Too Old For Love So Young was an inspiration when I met a woman and her dog at the dog park. As soon as I met her, I had the whole story in my mind ready to write.

My story written by Susan, Andtheend, Spending the Summer Stripping my Mom, just hit 200,000 hits. Incest is fun to write, especially mother and son. Even though sister-in-law and mother-in-law are not technically incest because they are not blood related, they are still considered taboo, which is part of that category.

Well, I call this a success. My thread was up for a day and I only had the one basher from Detroit.

Maybe, now, we can talk about the reason why we're all here, reading and writing stories. You notice I didn't write erotic stories. Not all stories are erotic. I've written my share of essays and non-erotic stories.

Most of what I write is funny. Humor doesn't have to be erotic. If you want to win a woman, you don't tell her the size of your cock, you tell her a joke.

When I do write about sex, I write with tongue firmly planted in cheek. Hey, I don't read this stuff, I just write it (lol).

I have a feeling that next year is a banner year. Next year is the year my story comes out Swingers' Masquerade Ball in Nancy Armstrong's Big Bad Book of Sex published by Barnes and Nobel. She bought the one time rights to the story, after reading it here.

See? You never know who reads this stuff. Do you think just because someone is rich and successful that they don't read erotica? They do.

It wouldn't surprise me if Oprah, while in bed with her best friend, Gayle King, with Stedman in the middle reads my stories. Wow.

The first year I was here, when I was cheated out of winning the 2007 Survivor contest, long sad story, someone sent me a check for $5,000 with a note, you should have won the survivor contest. Seriously.

I wondered how they got my address, until my publisher came clean and told me that someone asked him for it. I'm glad he did.

I thought it was a joke, until I took it to my bank and they assured me it was real. They said, just in case, to open a separate account. Some people use checks to find out what your account number is. Then, they cancel their check and steal all your money.

After sitting on the check for six weeks, it was good. I received the checks around the same time that I was writing my Paparazzi stories. I have a feeling that it was either Cher or Madonna who sent me the check.

My point is, you never know who reads your stories, so write them the best you can.

Bashers bashed my stories with nasty comments and low vote. When I wrote under Bostonfictionwriter, I had more than 200 red H's and bashers erased everyone of them 3 times. If I complained I was called a whiner.

Different names took bashers a few months to realize it was me. Now it's a way for me to link with the reader. Certain readers enjoy reading stories from a certain type of author. It's fun mixing up identities.

Characters:

How much information is enough for a reader to see the character in their mind? How much information do we as writers want to give and how much should we let the reader flesh out the character to suit themselves?

These are important questions. If we give too much information then the character is locked in to our mental image and may put the reader off. If there is not enough then the character become nothing but a cardboard cut out.
