I am not a political animal. I keep informed of things that have a "here and now" impact on my life, but in general, I tend to not pay much attention to most of the "news" simply because I am confronted with a "Hobson's choice." I can either slog through the data in order to formulate my own opinion or I can rely on somebody else to do it for me, keeping in mind that the view point provided by them is biased.
I suspect that most of the people who purport to have my (as a generic member of the human race) best interests in mind are confronted by the same informational overload, but simply ignore it or do not comprehend that it may result in gaping flaws in thier logic.
Despite the flaws created by informational overload, there are a lot of people who seem to want to tell me what to do. Not that anything has been specifically directed to me, but in general. It really bugs me when it is done under the auspices of a higher moral concept such as justice or when the person telling me what to do has no idea of who I am or where I come from on things. My experience has taught me that those who claim to protect the rights of others against some nebulous "threat" are usually more interested in increasing their own power. I kills me when people actually fall for their rhetoric.
It makes me want to go bite somebody.
