and I like to look down on everyone. I don't see any problem with this as I feel I am smarter than about everyone around me. Does anyone else share my opinion?

Yes and no. I am smarter than you, so I don't share your opinion that you are smarter than anyone. But, I do share the opinion that I am smarter than everyone around me.

how do you find it works out for you?

I do very well in things that require the use of my intelligence. But I find that my social skills are horrible and I cannot keep friends and do not find myself to be outwardly very likable (though I love myself)

Ever try wearing a short skirt?

Maybe that way people wouldn't mind putting you up on a pedestal and worshiping you.

MrNiceGuy22 - oh the confidence of youth. Come back here in 30 years with a list of accomplishments and then we'll pass judgement.

May I ask why you posted this ad? To find others who also think they are intellectually superior? But what then? Enjoying your collective superiority by talking about it and wanking on it or competing to find out who is the smartest of you?
But let me tell what the 27 years I have been on this planet taught me: I am never as smart as I think I am and there will always be people who are smarter than I am, even if they don't look like it or show it off all the time. Trust me with that: You are most certainly not the smartest guy around here.

I am a newcomer so maybe i should be the last one to speak, but
a cynic may be pardoned and understood; an arrogant and autoreferential one i do not think so :(

let me make the purpose of this thread more clear:

what is your opinion of someone who feels he is justified in thinking himself smarter than everyone, literally every single person, around him. Dont worry about what the justification is, just consider whether you think it is possible to be justified in thinking yourself smarter than everyone else around you.

There's a tremendous difference between knowing that you're intelligent and looking down on others for not being as smart as you are. Humility goes a long way, and intelligence does not equate with perfection. We all have flaws, so maybe instead of looking down on others for not sharing your strength you should look up to them for having their own.

This probably would have fit the General Board better...

Im not wanting advice

I just want to know if you think it is possible that someone can be justified in thinking themselves smarter than everyone else

So you are the smartest person on the planet and you're spending your invaluable time typing on a message board where other people are talking about sexual fantasies?

On behalf of the human race I would request you put your time into more constructive issues like cures for disease, growing the economies of third world countries or negotiating the peace between nations that have been at war for decades.

speaking specifically to the words in bold italic and not trying to be snarky...

yes, I suppose you could be smarter than everyone around you. but, that might not be saying much when you are just sitting on a park bench by your bff who is a total dumbass. shrug.

Find smarter people? You clearly don't like the people you hang out with, so you apparently prefer the satisfaction gained from disliking others to actually being mentally challenged. How are you going to improve and grow if you never associate with people smarter than you?

Are you surrounded by children all day? Like...a kindergarten teacher? Because that may explain why you feel smarter AND your lack of social skills. A smart, self confident man is attractive. A smart, self confident man who lives in his own little bubble treating everyone else like poo beneath his boot is not. To anyone.

If you love yourself to the point you aren't capable of even caring about anyone else, why does it matter if anyone agrees with you or not? You're the only one that matters, right?

So, you are smarter than everyone around you, but you use "your" wrong in your bio.

I like to keep things private. If your lucky, I may just respond to your private message.

Seems like someone with such a high intellect would know the difference between your and you're.

Just had to say that made me laugh out loud! :D

I've nothing else to add - please carry on....

I just saw the comment about the "your" used in my profile. Cool, what does an arbitrary signaling of which form of "your" you're using have to do with someones intelligence? The fact that people say things like that just makes me happy I haven't looked at this in so long (I'm just gonna wait for the comment about my not putting a period there. Oh, aren't you observant! Take a gold star from your manager!)

There is a definition (nascissism) so I would asume it can be justified. If not, what would be the point of having said definition if it's all a load of gobbledy goop?
