hi there. hope this is the right place.

1. how long does it take for an illustrated story to be posted? mine is taking a longer time than three separate story submissions. poems seem to get entered really fast. do illustrated stories take longer, then?

2. what is the friendliest way to provide an illustrated story? to make the process go faster, gentler and friendlier for editors?

3. how do i post an illustrated poem? can i put the words onto the image file, or do they need to be separate? or is it just the same as an illustrated story?

thanks for any answers received.

You're in the right place, but I don't know the answers to your questions. None of "my" writers work much with illustrations.

The good news is that there are people here who do know, and I'm sure they'll respond when they wander back in from their weekends.

Lady C? Jen? Anybody out there who's familiar with illustrated submissions?

Nope, don't know the answer. Just like you, none of my writers work with illustration.

Maybe if WeirdHarold stumbles around he'll know...he knows EVERYTHING! :D

Tsk tsk tsk....we won't have that. Once you have your answers is when you HAVE to start posting as if your life depended on it. :p

My illustrated stories did take quite a bit longer than my others to post - same with illustrated poems, which are done in large batches. I've waited over a month for an illustrated poem to post, but if you post it at the right time, that is, a few days before they get to a new batch, it'll go fast. You were probably quite lucky with yours.

I've tried all three processes, but I've never received feedback one way or the other. I do believe that sending your text in the submission field with indications of where the pictures go, and sending the pictures by email is the best way. I'm saying this because I know they have to process the word files by hand. This way, they just have to insert the pictures, which shouldn't take long.

I hope I understand the third question correctly - you can post an illustrated poem either way. If you'd like to take a look at my poetry submissions, I've done both. If the words fit onto the image, you can finish your poem that way, but if the words don't quite fit or the poem is too long, you're better off separating the two. If they are separated, you post the poem just like an illustrated story.

Yea, Jen!
You've redeemed the honor of the e.f. (I hate doing impersonations of the village idiot.)

Heh, you're welcome.

But you quoted all my horrid typos.

thank you, jen. you gave me exactly the answers i was looking for. i wish it could have been better news but some news is better than no news. thank you for responding. your poems are lovely and i am awed and jealous.

just a thought on the illustrated poems, then. if i wanted to get a whole bunch approved, and the ones i've already submitted have not been approved, it's actually a good idea for me to submit more rather than wait til the next batch, right? because it would seem they are in between batches. that means that everything i submit now will end up in the next batch. hrm.... interesting thought. thanks.

Yeah, that's pretty much how it works. :)
