Ilkley Moor

Just giving this a bump, cos it had almost slipped off the first page. Can't have that happening. :D

I hope that the Saturday Litsters can sing better than Tuesday's.

I won't be there either, and I brought the words.

I wonder what they will sing or if they will sing at all?

Bad singers can really let themselves go with traditional songs like:

"Early one morning, just as the sun was rising, I heard a maid sing in the valley below: 'Oh don't deceive me, Oh never leave me, How could you treat a poor maiden so?' "

Theme for a writers' challenge?

Alex

PS: I suspect Wetherspoons in Wakefield will be too busy for our team to sing.

Yes, they could be risking their health. ;)

This audio file is a recording Mat made of all the blokes who went to Yorkshire to meet Perdita, and everyone else, singing "Ilkley Moor". It really is not to be missed.

That's why male voice choirs are usually Welsh and not English ;) Only kidding, guys! It definitely brought a smile to my face :D

Highly likely, cheapest beer in town, Saturday night, its the starting point for all the pub crawls. Singing is not recommended.

This last verse should read:

Then we shall 'ave etten thee.

This gives the right 'flavour' to the local accent.

I wonder what miracles Saturday evening will bring?

To really be nit-picky, it should be "Then we shall all 'ave etten thee" ;) Without the "all" it doesn't fit the meter (these things matter to a Yorkshireman & a musician ;) )
