Is there a way to block a user? I know I can ignore them, but they’ll still see what I post, right?

I am baffled that in the year of our lord 2025 a social media site exists without the ability to block.

Honestly, it feels profoundly negligent.

well even if it did, its would not really amount to a block since almost every post on the forum is viewable logged out~
So they could pretty much bypass it without an issue lol~

The best you can do it set your privacy settings to not let them "stalk" your profile continuously, I guess
by limiting who can view your profile

Oh that’s a fair point.
That said, I think that, again, given where we are today, requiring a log in to see the forums at all is pretty reasonable.

To be sure, no blocking system is perfect. The goal is to raise the level of effort to the point where MOST assholes aren’t willing to put in the effort.

I have a hard time believing that it would be a challenge to make the forums require you log in to view. That feels like a basic safety thing. And a huge safety thing for women.

The forum still runs on the same code it did over 27 years ago. Only the CMS was upgraded (in 2000)

On forums atleast, the effort required to find anything is minimal, any1 decent enough to navigate it would be able to figure it out
its just how forums are unfortunately lol

That's on the site owners, think they just have bare minimum effort to make it function as intended, they seem to be invested on the stories side, which to be fair, is what their site is about, but that's on them and well assholes that are determined to be asshole ~

I have ignored several complete and total ASSHOLES who have made it their life's work to find and comment on my posts and threads. I am flattered by their attention of course but if it were up to me, I would have them jettisoned into space on a long trip to Alpha Centauri.

Needless to say these scumbags will find it necessary to comment on this post and so I wish them a hearty FUCK YOU for their efforts. And a Merry Christmas!

Im with ya. I get trolls on my thread every so often and have to scream loudly to get a mod to get them banned or whatever.

A simple "block" function to ensure theyc annot see my conent or any trace of me would fix this.
Alas, as noted, this code doesnt support that and likely never will unless they update the whole code which also would prob nuke all posts and content and I am guessing no one wants that.
