I think, despite her insouciant tone, that she's concerned about the fact that this place is rapidly becoming, as you said, a hive of 4chan rejects--driving off good posters and directly affecting her livelihood.

I agree with the trolling of the newbies. I tried to preserve one the other night. We use to protect our newbies, now those people who did that are no longer here or are rarely here and we didn't leave a new group to take over when we left.

I agree that the mothership is still the best ship. One of the reasons is that it isn't homogenous. When you have a closed board, the people who post are those who are like each other for one reason or another.

I also love the politics. However we lost much of the balance during the past election cycle and I found other places to politically post.

In order to attract what we want we have to be here. I'm not as much. I'm not anywhere as much.

And I disagree with Laurel. When I joined there were about 1 million posts and around 300,000 members. Now there's almost 30 million posts and over a million registered members. The highest post count was 25,000 and now it's over 150,000. Lots of water under the bridge and it can't be discounted.

So, I'll do what I can do to help with my limited abilities. Here's my ignore list compiled over years. I'm also not touching it except to add. Some of the names may look like real posters, but there is something about them that only looks real and are alts. There are maybe 4 or 5 that might still post and I get the message that the user is on my ignore list.

We've had more trolls before (and less). Back in the days when people could post Unregistered, it was a madhouse. We've had more drama before (and less).

The GB is the same as it's always been. The Forum Rules are posted at the link at the bottom, and they've never changed. The only thing that changes is your perception. Sometimes you get tired of being somewhere for a long time and need to move on. That's fine and normal. But realize it's your focus that's changed.

If you want to come and flirt, that's great. There's lots of that happening. If you want to debate politics, that's great too. Plenty of that happening too. If you want to talk about your day, great. But if you come to stir shit and complain, then get bummed because of all the shit and complaints - that makes no sense. Or if you hate racist trolls, but spend all your time reading their threads and getting upset - why do that? Why not start an interesting discussion? It takes just as much effort as it does to complain, and you'll like the results more.

You have your brain, your ignore button, and your "reply to post" button. Want a good GB experience? Use your tools wisely. No one can make things fun for you but you.
