If You Won A Trip...

for two people to go anywhere in the world for two weeks, where would you go?

This is my first effort at posting on the PG, so forgive me if I violated any by-laws.

I would sail the Spice Islands (Moluccas) of Indonesia.

I am in the mood to see the Northern Lights again. So I'd pick someplace, it would probably be cold, where I can sit outside at night in a hottub, sipping some wine and enjoy the view. Every night!

Hmm. Two weeks. If it were longer I'd say New Zealand, but I want to stay longer there when I do go, it's on the other side of the world from me.

Is it all expenses paid? If so, then maybe Iceland in the summer. Horribly expensive, I'm told, but my friends' pics from there looked amazing.

Absolutely, all expenses paid. Iceland is an interesting choice.

Somewhere warm, remote, no technology or distractions. Just pure bliss together as one.

Any particular place you have in mind? I can suggest one, El Nido, Philippines. The Bacuit archipelago is spectacular and the sunsets are mind blowing, plus, it's not yet overrun by tourists.

I've always wanted to rent one of those bungalows that sit in the middle of the water. I'd spend my nights listening to the waves lapping against the pillars as I sat sipping something fruity (with lots of rum mixed in). Maybe in the Bahamas or Tahiti (I hear it's a magical place ;) ).

I think a trip the Orient Express would be classy... Stops at Paris and Venice...End up at Istanbul..Old school charm. Lots of time in bed and to look out the window and see the views.

Istanbul is my favorite city in the world. Layers and layers of history. Approaching it by sea is the most dramatic thing I have ever seen. It's too bad the increased terrorism there makes it difficult to justify a trip there.

I'd go back to Moorea in French Polynesia, stay at the same camp site and spend all day walking along the beach ... Heaven

Still want to go to Paris but I will settle for the ice hotel in Sweden.

Road trip! A cool city I've never been to before. I think the next one is going to be Nashville.

I agree - Istanbul is fascinating, we've been many times. I hate that it is difficult to visit at the moment.

Do you get a double bed on the Orient Express? That would be gorgeous.

The ordinary overnight train from Paris to Venice is rather wonderful. Leaves Paris around 8:30pm, you can eat in the restaurant car, or instead just grab some baguette and pâté and a bottle of red before you board. Eat your picnic as the sun goes down and the journey begins, then they come in and turn your cabin into bunk beds. One of you visits the other, and you feast on each other while the train rattles on, over international borders, through long tunnels, slowly eating up the kilometres overnight.

And then in the morning you emerge blinking into the sunlight from the station, right onto Venice's Grand Canal. Quite something, in my experience.

Any place tropical.

The kind of tropic you'd see in a Corona commercial.
