This election is about whether a government by the people, for the people, and of the people, is going to be allowed to expand beyond the economic means of the people, or against their interests.

That's just the RNC talking point parroted by Hannity though. But also thw significance of this election is being way overblown by the networks who are just trying to pump ratings out of it.

Government was not instituted to represent itself, it was not instituted to secure its interests against the interests of the private sector. It is instituted to secure the rights, property, and liberty of the private sector.

In fact, ( far from saying any worker was unnescessary) forcing government workers to pay a share of their own healthcare and retirement was part of a plan to preserve the jobs of government workers. The governor wished to create jobs, not see them slashed as state and local governments were suffering from reduced tax revenues on account of severe unemployment, and had no other option before the reforms.
